There’s an Amtrak station in Florida ( close to Orlando area) that takes you ( & your car) overnight to Lorton, Va……( 30 minutes from Washington, DC)…..
Very popular!….
My 90 year old Uncle (birthday yesterday) is a retired lifelong railroad man. Drove engines mostly for cargo transport after being in the Army. He undoubtedly wishes he had raises like that in his day.
Super Trump supporter, by the way.
I took the Empire Builder from Seattle several times to Chicago; great fun, always got there on time.
I’ve rode Amtrak several times FL-DC. If everyone on the train moved to one car, there would have been room for more passengers in that single car.
Only Amtracks I’ve ever taken were between DC, Philly, Baltimore, and NYC. Quite pricey IIRC.
They’re going to try to keep those trains running during the strike. It’s only Amtrak that’s shutting down.
They are the Amtrak trains that run on freight railroad system rails.
Most, if not all, of the Boston - Washington service is on Amtrak owned rails.
NY metro commuter trains run on dedicated passenger rails and will not be affected.
This is what happens, when incompetent people are put into In Real Life Jobs.

Amtrak = make-work project for blacks. Reviews I read a couple years ago when we considered a train trip made me shiver.
It would be nice to have a decent train system in this country.
connected cars that are over a mile in length.
Is that better?
😀
“When did an Amtrak train reach its destination ever?”
Often. But on time? Not so much.
There are some private train services starting up, like Brightline in Florida.
I foresee dozens of disappointed potential travelers.
Of course, now that I don't need to visit my son anymore, since he moved back here a few months ago.
I am astonished that they are pushing for economic collapse before November.
They must be confident that they will get away with election theft. Again.
“ When did an Amtrak train reach its destination ever? ”
Huh? A family member took an Amtrak train the other day and arrived 40 min early. So yes they do reach their destinations.
And now it's no more long distance!?
"AAAOOOW!"
Yup! No cars (that work), no fossil fuels, heat your house by wood (unless you live in a commie blue state that bans wood burning), no food except bugs, just freeze, starve, and die already you peasants!!
Have you traveled on Amtrak recently? Or ever?
I have multiple times…over decades. Trains ran either on time or just a few minutes late…but as frequently a minute or so early if everyone was on board. Many many Trips to Philly and also Autotrain.
I’m sorry you apparently had different experiences. They’re not perfect…but not the worst, either
Ping.
