The rats are getting a lot of women all worked up over this...have seen various tweets from rat candidates today.
My first reaction was to wonder why LG is handing congress to the rats AGAIN. Incredibly STUPID if he wants a GOP majority. This could have waited.

South Carolina legislature would have picked Scott and maybe McMaster or that loser congressional chick, Nancy Mace. Same thing.
Nothing is perfect. At least with the legislature choosing, every one of them would see themselves in the Senate chair. So, there would be plenty of competition for the seat. There were few long-term Senate careers prior to the passage of the 17th Amendment. A FR member research that and posted it. The political ‘action’ was back home in the state. The senator represents the state corporately. The people are represented directly through the House. Indirectly via the state legislature through the Senate, not directly like we have now. You would have had a whole different dynamic if there had been no 17th Amendment. Flake might have not even politically surfaced!
I trust the thinking, instinct and designs of the Founding Fathers, not the Progressives of the Wilson Age.
