If they are child free by choice.. I would not agree with that assessment.

If they desired family and put career first and realized too late they wanted that... then yes. Or if they were too difficult to deal with and because of that never were able to marry and have children, I would agree with your assessment.

But if they just aren’t meant to be a mother and realized that fact about themselves early on, they aren’t bitter or unhappy.

A lot however that wind up single and childless, fall outside that group.

Yeah, yeah...cats...boxed wine...yada yada.

I never had children because my husband had severe health issues. Now he's gone. Yeah, I got a cat. Yeah, I like boxed wine from Costco. Yeah, I got piles of money.

...and while I miss my husband, I do LOVE my freedom. Wouldn't trade it again for anything.

Oh...and I am VERY Happy! And the more I look at today's culture, figure I probably dodged a bullet as I watch my friends and their gender-confused, video game addicted, inked-up moron children and grandchildren. Yikes! Happy to be on my own.

When you're facing old age all by your lonesome, it can be scary. I'm fortunate - I have a large extended family. As an example, one of our family friends never married, no children, her one sibling passed away. She has no one ... but us.
