When the World sees how effective American weapons are in this conflict,
America will get it all back & more in future weapons sales
a profitable investment!
Too bad it will cost $1 trillion to repair the war damage, and thousands of Ukrainians have been killed, maimed, and permanently disabled.
And, Putin still has more nukes than any other country in the world.
It seems that, in some cases, throwing money at something really does work!
Sadly, this does not seem to work at all in the case of US domestic spending, which is running at about 100x what is going to Ukraine.
This is the Battle of the Bulge 2.0. The Germans pushed their unsustainable counteroffensive for the Goebbels headlines and they were on a high for a few weeks too before reality set in. Here we have a two front offensive: Kherson, which cost Zelenski thousands of dead and wounded and was easily rolled up, and now Kharkov which was the weakest point in the line and which they’re throwing their last effective troops at. The Russians will take their time on this, grinding them down and regaining it all just like they did with the last Kharkov offensive in May.
The only thing I know for sure about all this is that 3,000 square kilometers is not 74,000 acres; it’s 740,000 or so.
741,000 acres
It’s worth noting that the area recaptured by the Ukies isn’t what Russia most covets, i.e., the Donbas and the coastal areas of the Black Sea. Hence, it was weakly defended by marginal troops. The same rivers and marsh land that aided this offensive also work against the Ukies continuing further East than the Oskol River. None of that diminishes that it was a brilliant offensive.
I don’t believe anything coming out of this war...
A bunch of farmland?
I’m broke...
