(AFP) — Ukraine on Thursday claimed a military breakthrough in its counter-offensive against Russian invaders as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on a surprise visit to Kyiv, unveiled another $2.8 billion in military aid.
Ukraine said its forces made gains in the north, the south and the east, prying back land seized by Russia which had hoped for a swift victory when it attacked nearly seven months ago.

Confirmed now that Ukraine’s air force is operating heavily over the southeast Kherson region again. Ukrainian HIMARS attacks have obliterated most of RuSSia’s anti-aircraft batteries. Uke pilots feel secure flying at high altitude again.
They are overrunning RuSSian position after position.

Also, Ukraine’s skies are mostly cleared of enemy planes because RuSSian pilots still refuse to operate over most of Ukraine.
Stingers and the MANPADS supplied by the Europeans have saved many Ukrainian lives.

I would say that everything the Russians have said or the Americans have said is propaganda. So, there is no reason to believe either side is telling the truth. Which I can accept and I am used to hearing from their side. But the amount of crap from our side is disconcerting. I guess our side has always been lying to us. It just did not seem so obvious before.
Even the Russian propaganda channels like Rybar, The Grey Zone and others are admitting this is catastrophic. Their war maps pretty much match what Ukraine is saying, with Ukes making it all the way to the west bank of the Oskil at Kupiansk.
Putin recently demanded his Generals take Slovyansk and Kramatorsk (and all of Donetsk) by Sep 15th (obviously not going to happen). With so many forces tied up in Kherson, they had to take from somewhere, and Kharkiv has been “frozen” for months. Kupiansk is a key rail hub that Russia cannot afford to lose, so I expect they will do whatever it takes to keep/retake it. Putin’s plan to take all of Donbas might have to wait.
I expect Putin will try to freeze the conflict ASAP. The occupation of Kherson is not sustainable through the winter. It’s all downhill for Russia from here and only Putin’s Soros EU partners can save him.

The Ramstein meeting was obviously theater, since the West was going to spin this in Ukraine’s favor, anyway.
