Cardiologists are sounding the alarm on herbal supplements, which are giving their young patients heart problems.

California-based cardiologist Dr. Danielle Belardo said the most common cause of heart arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, presenting in her 20-something patients stems from taking herbal supplements.

However, the number of Americans taking dietary supplements has exploded since the COVID-19 pandemic's start. In Southern California, Belardo says she often sees patients with heart problems who "gravitate towards alternate therapies and herbals and supplements."

Hm, EPA and DHA fish oil and ashwaghanda bad ? My doctor takes both as do I. Well researched on the Google scholar website.

Like red rice yeast, Boswellia Serrata and a host of other good herbal products you’ll usually find big pharma behind the mudslinging while at the same time they’re synthesizing these same products.

Water can drown you you know ... beware

After the death of Baltimore Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler more than 10 years ago, many questions arose about the safety of ephedra and the government’s role in regulating the herb. Bechler died of heat stroke while taking ephedra, which occurs naturally in the Chinese herb ma huang. The speed-like drug contains the chemical ephedrine, an amphetamine-like compound closely related to adrenaline.

Athletes and average people alike started taking ephedra when word started spreading about its ability to aid weight loss and increase energy and alertness.

But just because a supplement comes from natural sources doesn’t make it safe. Ephedra can cause a quickened heartbeat and elevated blood pressure. Side effects include heart palpitations, nausea, and vomiting.

More than 800 dangerous reactions have been reported with use of the herb. These include heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and sudden deaths. According to a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine, ephedra products make up only 1% of herbal supplement sales in the U.S., but they are responsible for 62% of herb-related reports to poison-control centers.

I have been seeing random articles and hearing “news blurbs”
about this and other things which suddenly are causing weird stuff like this.

I have also been hearing radio ads saying

“I felt some kind of pain and I might not have gone to the ER, but I did and now fortunately I have found out that I might be OK”

This ad sponsored by Pfizer and some other pharma company

One of the wives of a republican died from a weight loss herb

For those with heart issues..if you order your own blood tests research intestinal alp called IAP ..decreased activity linked to heart issues. You have to order alp isoenzymes to get it . I can’t find how to get the stool test used in studies.

Lose weight without supplements. I have lost two inches in two weeks on the whole30 diet and I am not even doing the strictest version of no snacks and limited eating..I am just following the ingredient restriction . Don’t know how many pounds because I don’t have a scale. Will have to see in a Drs appointment.
