A Florida man pulled a 3-foot sword on police officers when they approached a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road on Saturday.
Deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office approached a Nissan Altima in North Fort Meyers because it was blocking the bike line, WBBH-TV reported. Inside of the car, they found a man reclined in the driver’s seat.
After learning that the man provided the deputies with a fake name, the deputies asked him to step outside of the vehicle. As police tried to remove him, he reached towards his center console and drew the three-foot blade, attached to a metal dragon-shaped handle, according to the outlet.
Deputies attempted to tase the man, who was later identified as 34-year-old Randy Lynn Austerman, but were unsuccessful. He then began poking the weapon out of his car window at the officers.

Never fight Gurkhas or Sikhs
That was either an amazingly capacious center console, or he really pulled his transmission oil dipstick.
A Bruce Lee quote comes to mind.
He was asked why Kung Fu movies are generally in the past. His reply was, “If the movie was set to and I jump out and go ‘Hie-Yah’, The cop goes Pow-Pow
Beat me. I knew to read first
“Never fight Gurkhas or Sikhs”
I don’t know about the Sikhs but the Gurkhas are a nightmare when they’re on YOUR side. Makes you feel bad for the poor bastards they slice and dice.
LOL!
Best Florida man story.... Florida man throws 6 ft alligator through Wendy’s drive thru window....
His mom told the police her son has issues...
....but where were the social workers?
Best Florida man story.... Florida man throws 6 ft alligator through Wendy’s drive thru window....
I'll have to look for that one. I hope they have video.
Hiding behind the police?
Florida man strikes again, this time with 3 ft. sword.
BTW it is Ft. Myers, not Meyers.
A Gurkha will bring a kukri to any kind of fight, and doesn’t really care what kind. In his WWII memoir Quartered Safe Out Here, George MacDonald Fraser recounts an incident in which Gurkha troops were attacking Japanese soldiers in a grove of trees. Several Gurkhas were seen to drop their rifles so as to be able to use their kukris better.
Yep. Things like that tend to accompany a lot of Florida Man stories.
Good one. And yet another reason to “just say no” to fast food drive thru work.
This Florida Man isn't the sharpest blade in the drawer.
My name is Inigo Lynn Austerman. You approached my Altima. Prepare to die. (unsheathes dragon handled sword)
