The political intrigue over former President Donald Trump's involvement in New Hampshire's federal elections grew Tuesday as an aide to Gov. Chris Sununu confirmed Trump had reached out to the governor about the U.S. Senate race.
Sununu spokesman Benjamin Vihstadt said Trump initiated the discussion.
"For the record, the governor did not call President Trump. President Trump called Governor Sununu, and the Senate race came up as part of a larger conservation. The governor encouraged the President to take a look at the Senate race," Vihstadt said in a statement.
The comment came after Liz Gabert, a conservative radio talk show host on WSMN in Nashua, had claimed earlier on Tuesday that Sununu called Trump to lobby on behalf of Senate President Chuck Morse's candidacy.
"We know this, and I'm going to go ahead and say this because I think that somebody like you might have shared this, but in fact that Governor Sununu, who is another swamp candidate, you know, establishment swamp candidate and is really not even a Republican in my opinion, but got to President Trump and asked for an endorsement of Morse, I believe," Gabert said during an interview with conservative businessman Steve Stern, the owner of a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, firm that makes patriotic flag shirts.
Stern told Gabert he had heard the same thing and prevailed on Trump allies and the former president to back retired Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc of Stratham or stay out of the race.
"And I called a lot of the president's key people and asked them, told them what I thought, and evidently the president agreed because he hasn't endorsed him," Stern said of Morse. "And he said he's going to stay neutral right now."

Bolduc will likely take the nomination next Tuesday.
If I were Trump, I would definitely reach out and find out what Sununu is thinking, and find out what he recommends.
And then I would do the opposite.

No the RINOs are scared because Bolduc is going to win the primary. Then the Republican party has stated they have $23 million set aside to support the Republican candidate against Hassan.
Bolduc does not NEED Trumps endorsement to win the primary.
Bolduc is going to win all by himself because of the grass roots organization.
FYI, I supported Bolduc two years ago too. I did not support the carpetbagger Corky.
Repukes keep telling people who can win but haven’t had a Senatorbin an eastern state in about 10 years. Who really cares what they think. I think there was a Repuke Senator who was bashing Trump and lost (so maybe less than 10 years) but they have been few and far between. I’m sure MAGA can do just as well if not better.

There is something very wrong with him.

Well, in the article it says that a conservative radio talk show host said on the air that Sununu called Trump (so she must have some connection or somebody leaked to her). And then my guess is that Sununu and his team were like “oh, no, no Trump called US. We didn’t call HIM.” Because as RINOs they can’t be seen or thought of as begging Trump for an endorsement to save their pathetic candidate.
So it probably wasn’t an infiltrator, per se. Probably just a staffer who told the radio talk show host (or told somebody who told the radio talk show host) that Sununu and Trump had a conversation about a Senate endorsement.
But either way, they know Trump has influence and they don’t (Sununu endorsed Doughty in MA and he lost last night) and Tuesday is coming fast! And the only avenue left for them to stop Bolduc is for Trump to endorse Morse before Tuesday.
Trump needs to not endorse ANYONE at this point.
