Trump warned them, but they did not listen.

Actually, they laughed at him.

Good for them. Bring Europe to its knees for all I care. Maybe if their safety nets crumble they’ll stop committing demographic suicide my letting Islam gain ever greater inroads?

The difference is what Russia sells to the EU is fungible. What the EU sells to Russia is not. The Europeans eventually will find alternative sources of fossil fuels. But spare parts for padvanced echnological products are not fungible. In many cases, you either have to get them from the manufacturer or you are out of luck. That is really going to hurt Russia in the longer term.

About the time that the US is shipping LNG to Europe, Russia will turn the valve wide open and contaminates the clean natural gas.

Russia is already taking the blame for the pain inflicted on European consumers - this just makes it explicit. The mask is off, and no more pretending to be a reliable provider.

Like bombing civilians, the initial effect of energy cutoff is terror, but then opinion stiffens against the bombers.

Putin has had his run at bullying the Europeans with his energy weapon, and driving up prices. He has shot his wad - nothing further to restrict.

He has cut the flow off - and natural gas spot prices dropped a bit in response. Both oil and gas prices on the spot market for European delivery are down solidly from their wartime peaks. The replacement for Russian oil, gas and coal imports is already well planned, fully funded and ahead of schedule. The uncertainty in minor now compared to back in March, or even June.

Bottom Line: The energy weapon not only failed to divide the West and force withdrawal of support to the Ukraine - it has backfired. European public opinion has so hardened against Russian aggression and bullying, that it is now politically impossible for European politicians to pull support from the Ukraine.

Russian gas revenues were throttled off, as the flow to Europe was throttled off. The bills that used to be paid with that revenue, will now have to paid with newly printed rubles instead.

Oil is the last gasp of Russian financial solvency, and all the players know it. So Russian oil revenue is the main target, and December 5th is D-Day.

After oil revenues collapse, comes the deluge.

The EU has Putin Derangement Syndrome as bad as the Trump Derangement Syndrome so they will be very cold this coming winter.

There have been ongoing discussions relative to the condition of the gas pipeline. There was a problem when one of the Siemens compressors was being help up for repairs in Canada, and this affected the ability to deliver gas at 100 percent.

Going down to zero does smell of a deliberate action, but Europe has clearly taken positions which hurt, or try to hurt, Russia, and their current response can be judged in this possible tit for tat retaliation.

On top of this, nearly all European countries plus the EU have made nasty belligerent claims about Russia and their desire for some sort of overthrow of Russia. Looking at gas revenues, Russia’s current account, and the ruble, this has clearly not worked.

And next — a price cap! Write me back when this tactic succeeds!

What kind of an idiot wanker would expect Russians to do ANYTHING for Europe while Euroclown governments were arming and supporting a barbarian nazi horde on Russia’s doorstep??

“Looks like you are getting your arse handed to you in the comments”

The tears of vatniks are sweet. So many more are coming...

Putin has destroyed the hopes and dreams of the Russian people for a better life, likely for a generation.

Russia not taking the blame for sh*t.
The West/EU/Uk/US brought the economic pain upon themselves.

Stop using Putin and Russia as a scapegoat and catch-all for all the failures imposed and inflicted by the West/EU/Uk/US dumb ass foreign policy decisions, etc.

This time next year, the Russian people are going to be in better shape than the EU people.

I heard someone say all of the intelligent Europeans migrated to the US during the industrial revolution and after. This is proof positive.

Surely they had enough smarts to know that when you inflict pain on Russia with sanctions, they will retaliate by closing the valves on the oil/gas lines heating or cooling your homes. Why are they surprised?? Why are they indignant?? It was to be expected.

Why are G7 countries attempting to put a price cap on Russian oil if the sanctions aren't backfiring?

Russia is the one holding all the leverage. It doesn't need Europe's money. It is collecting a record amount of record amount of oil revenue. Oil sells itself. China and India will buy as much of it as they can get (and then sell it back to the dumb Europeans).

That you had to ask the question you did proves how stupid Russian Derangement Syndrome makes a person. Everything you believe about the war on the ground and sanction war is a lie or delusion. It should be surprising given the Biden regime is the source of most of what you you post here.

The gas is untreated and still contains impurities and water. This water will freeze around valve internals and instrumentation rendering them useless. Ice can be removed by methanol injection, but large amounts will be required.
