"If it's a personality contest, he'll be in trouble," Graham told CNBC.

(snip)

Speaking in an interview with CNBC, Graham said he believes Trump "could be" the best person to represent the Republican Party in 2024.

Sen. Lindsey Graham said former President Donald Trump would be a strong contender in the 2024 presidential election if he could only curb his personality.

"Whether you like Trump or not he was a consequential president," Graham said. "I think a strong American president — unpredictable — is a good thing as long as you keep it within the boundaries."

"His problem is personal…”

I hate to say it, but Lindsey is more right than wrong. Trump has already won us over. He’ll never win over the hard-core Democrats. So it will be the squishy folks in the middle that will decide the 2024 election.

Those folks want to see more of Trump’s Reagan side, and less of his Patton side.

It's going to be interesting when the conservative part of the Republican-conservative coalition just doesn't show up "election" day, and the Pubbies have to go it alone against the Democrats and their vote fraud [the the Repukelickings claim doesn't exist].

No political pie for YOU, scumpublicans.

Unfortunately there’s a Biden voter in my family who voted that way because she didn’t like Trump’s personality. Now she complains about food and oil prices. I point out the specific Biden energy policies that caused this but you just can’t through to some people. They’re guided by their emotions and that’s that.

The media creates a Trump.thst doesn’t exist and then says he’s got s really bad personality. Likewise they create a Biden that doesn’t exists and say he’s a unifyer. The media will never give Trump a chance to make improvements because they have a narrative and that’s what they will work with no matter what. Try and remember how Trump reacted to the death of RBG. If the media wanted to let that be a turning point they could have done so easily. They are not interested so the GOPe better start fighting along side Trump.

This is nonsense. Most of us know that Trump’s ‘personality’ is a matter of style, not substance.

Exactly. The unfortunate problem is that there are millions of voters to whom style matters to varying degrees. And they may be morons for letting that affect their votes, but the vote of a moron counts just as much as the vote of a genius.

I've had endless discussions with some of those people who say "I like his policies better, but his personality really bothers me, and I don't know if I want to listen to him for four years." To me, that's nonsense. But there are a great many people who think that way. It's just reality.

So it would be a damn shame if we lose an election because some otherwise winnable votes are too off-put by his style.

The common everyday American likes hearing a speech without the political theatre choice of words...

You know...Like Trump speaks...

His personality was good enough for Lindsay to crawl to him for his endorsement a few years ago.

This is from a guy who gets into office by flooding the primary of South Carolina so he wins the primary with a majority. Then he walks into the senate seat that will never go to a democrat
Even long after any apocalypse

It’s a few
Hundred thousand people who choose this d to march around displaying authority the senate doesn’t even constitutionally hold in DC

He wouldn’t know what winning 74 million votes even seems like

He is such a d

Trump’s best things are the priorities and policy positions he has taken, and his consistent hit-backs when unfairly attacked. If he sticks to that, he wins. If he does the gauche name-calling and embarrassingly self-obsessed stuff (mean tweets?), he starts eroding his strong position. I’m so happy with his accomplishments in his first term, but I fear he can get bogged down and side tracked. Mr. President, keep being the plain-spoken advocate of the American Way. And keep it at that!

Lindsey should be talking about Biden’s Hitler imitation.

If they hit Biden, if there was a resistance, people could talk about Biden’s personality - he’s got in the face of Voters and yelled at them when he’s not mouthing gibberish.

No, he's not, and it may end up costing him some votes. But that's the entire point!! You don't want candidates to do crap that needlessly offends voters. Just as that dumbass, offensive speech hurt Biden with some voters, Trump sometimes does the same. And that is frustrating as hell to those of us who don't want to freaking lose in 2024. So it would be nice if Trump could keep all the policies, but just tone down some of the rhetoric just a bit so as to not alienate people whose votes we are going to need.
