Coal Miners Push Stranded Tourists’ Dead Electric Car to Charge Up at Coal Mine

In a hilarous bit of irony last week, an electric vehicle needed some coal miners to get where it needed to go.

The vehicle broke down Friday near  Mettiki Coal access road on US 48, in Tucker County, West Virginia, according to WBOY-TV.

Facebook post from Randy Smith described the incident.

Smith is a Republican state senator who represents the region where the incident took place, according to the West Virginia state Legislature website. He’s also the safety coordinator at Mettiki Coal, his Facebook page states.

“Some days are just better than others,” Smith wrote before launching into the tale.

“Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road,” he wrote.

The foreman learned the car’s passengers were en route from Washington, D.C., to the Tucker County town of Davis, Smith wrote. Davis is about 170 miles west of D.C.

It is a coal powered car after all. The owners might not be as dumb as they look.

Either these coal miners have a big heart or the car from DC were friendlies. If it had been me, I think the best I could do was to hand them a solar panel to recharge their car.

I love 5he fact that they couldn’t tow the car since it’s all plastic underneath. Has anyone told the greenies where plastic comes from?

Four fat people from D.C., going up and down West Virginia hills with the AC blasting. Moral of the story: Even idiots obey the laws of physics. Doubt those four fatties tipped the workers who pushed them or even said thank you. Anyone surprised that the idenities of the four fatties are not revealed in the story?

EVs being pushed out of the way, or being towed from being stuck on the road, would become a very common sight, if EVs were to become a high percentage of vehicles, or the totality of vehicles.

EVs: powered by electricity and people power.

I’m receiving “flex alerts” from my city in California - we are currently experiences temps around 110.

Part of the flex alert asks people NOT to charge their electric cars.

Good luck getting to work tomorrow.

You can make a form of biodegradable plastic from soybeans. It won't be long until the greenies start advocating that.

Anyone else old enough to remember a brief era in the mid-1970s when plastic packing peanuts were being phased out in favor of popcorn?

I kid you not. Things were shipped packed in popcorn. That fad lasted just a few months until warehouses discovered that the change attracted rodents big time.

Weird. If the underside is all plastic, does it get damaged when towed because the driver has parked in an illegal spot? That could get pricey fast.

Using regenerative braking, they could just charge it by pushing it.
