The man accused of kidnapping billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher was recently released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence for a similar crime.
Cleotha Abston, 38, was arrested and convicted in 2000 for the kidnapping of Memphis attorney Kemper Durand.
At around 2am May 25, 2000, Abston approached Durand from behind on Beale Street in Memphis then robbed him and forced him into the trunk of his car, according to the Memphis Flyer.
Abston then drove Durand around for several hours, then forced him into an ATM and demanded he draw out cash. While in the ATM Durand spotted a housing authority officer and yelled for help, causing Abston to flee.
Abston was convicted for that kidnapping and released from prison in July of 2020, according to Tennessee Department of Corrections, The US Sun reported.
On Sunday Abston was charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence following Fletcher's Friday disappearance.
In addition to surveillance footage which showed the entirety of the 'violent' abduction in which Fletcher was forced into a black SUV with a broken taillight, an affidavit showed cops identified Abston as the kidnapper by a pair of sandals he left behind at the scene. *** Investigators also determined Abston's cell was in the vicinity of the kidnapping at the time Fletcher was taken. *** Abston still has not said where Fletcher is or what he did to her. The affidavit said evidence, including blood, found in Abston's car led them to believe Fletcher suffered a 'serious injury.'

Well, she was wearing a red hat, you know. He doesn’t make the laws, he just enforces them. Think of him as a racial, cultural cop, take a spoonful of sugar, and it will all go down smoothly.
A white one. Same as the ones that go jogging alone through the woods.
did he kill the lawyer?
“High value targets...without a security detail.” The irony of course is that no-value non-targets like lib dems, flatter themselves by squandering millions on private security, when they’re completely unnecessary, the point apparently being to make themselves conspicuous in public so people will recognize them.
I now see he didnt
Tulsa is #8 of most dangerous cities?
> Same as the ones that go jogging alone through the woods. <
I do a lot of cycling through the woods near my house. Now and again I come across a woman jogging or cycling alone. It kinda bothers me, as the trail runs near some not-so-nice neighborhoods.
Anyway, I always carry an extra can of Sabre pepper spray on the trail. I’ll offer it as a gift should I see a lone woman on the trail. Always carry it in your hand, lady. No one has refused it, yet.

I’d say Farrakhan was the best at using his ‘security’ detail to make him look important...

This feral should be ripped from his cell today and strung up from the nearest tree.
Don't be too hard on her, she's also a victim of a nefarious political narrative.
A shame the toilet malfunctioned and the flush of the BLM and its ilk didn't work. Still at its "height."
We'll have to try again sometime.
I’m in favor of restoring the Pax Romana; for 207 years, you could walk the roads in the Roman Empire without fear of crime of any type and anyone caught engaging in it knew they had committed crime for the last time in their lives.
I am having a problem with my much loved Free Republic. This important story has this one thread I found.
Can someone point out some other threads I missed?
Or is this it?
Many thanks.
Correct. The McDonald’s is about a mile or so south of where I am posting.
Sorry to say but being young, female, alone and out jogging two and a half hours before the sun rises in a city with the third highest murder rate in the country is about as safe as playing Russian roulette.
I have known of this family for years, my grandmother was friends with them a hundred years ago. The abducted woman lived on my old newspaper route I had as a kid.
So people I know were friends with Eliza. She had anorexia. And she ran all the time. It sounds like running and staying skinny was some sort of an addiction. People who knew her said she ran in every local race and jogged every single day. Addictions can cost you your life, and not just alcohol, tobacco and drug addictions.
and usually crucified!
I would guess the Mississippi River is the most popular dumping grounds for Memphis criminals.
