Video and numbers from the gun turn-in event organized by the Dane County Sheriff’s office in Madison, Wisconsin, on August 13, 2022, have been released. The Orwellian term “buyback” was used, although the guns had never been owned by the police. You cannot “buyback” something you never owned.
There is a video released by the Sheriff’s Office of the guns turned in, shown at NBC15.com.
The haphazard and careless display of jumbled long guns makes identification most problematic. There appeared to be at least one M1 Carbine, one of the Lee Enfield Service rifles, and, likely, a Springfield 03 or 03A3 service rifle.
Included in the jumble of long guns were a smattering of air guns. There were numerous shotguns and .22 rifles.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office shared the following details about the event:
- 266 cars came to the event
- 577 total weapons were surrendered, including:
- 333 long guns, including rifles, shotguns and 11 assault-style rifles
- 95 handguns, including revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
- 93 pellet/BB/paintball guns
- One crossbow pistol
- 55 homemade weapons (3D, slam guns)
- 380 lbs. of miscellaneous ammunition
The Sheriff’s Office stated $43,380 in gift cards were handed out.
From the numbers reported by the Sheriff’s Office, there were 483 firearms of all types turned in at the event.
There was no information about how much was handed out for the homemade firearms. The advertising for the event stated $200 would be paid for “ghost guns”.

“The Orwellian term “buyback” was used, although the guns had never been owned by the police. You cannot “buyback” something you never owned.”
Very good point by the author.
Maybe the True Taxpayers/Citizens of this Nation should buyback their Congress and their Senate?
My statement is not Orwellian FWIW.
To the leftists out there:
There are no such things as “ghost guns” just like there were no “gun show loopholes.”
Owner-purchased and finished firearms from items LEGALLY sold were neither “ghost” nor illegal.
They only became such AFTER leftists and the ATF declared them so, contradictory to the Constitution. Show me a musket that had a serial number on it.
Ex partners turn over their ex’s guns to the po po as revenge, and a way to get quick cash.
What a bunch of dopes. Don’t they know we’re going to need every single gun to fight the inevitable confiscation and crackdown of this tyrannical government? It’s coming folks. I don’t know when but it’s coming. I never in my dreams/nightmares it would accelerate as fast as I’ve seen it.
How many took that money, and used it toward the purchase of a new gun? I would.
I’m curious, did they check the serial numbers to see if any of them were stolen? Are the firearms that were stolen going to be returned to the rightful owners? Will there be ballistics tests for each of the firearms to determine whether they may have been used in any crimes? How many of the firearms were non-functional?
We probably know the answers to those questions. The end result of the buy back, is that a whole lot money got paid out to bunch of thieves and a whole bunch of liberals feel better about themselves . . . and this will have absolutely no affect on gun violence . . .
Reminds me of a sterilization program in India in the 60’s. Transistor radios were the big thing back then and males could get a free portable transistor radio if they would get a vasectomy. The gov’t ended up giving away millions of radios only to find not even the smallest dent in the birth rate. The gov’t then launched a study to figure out what went wrong. They learned they had sterilized almost 100% of males over the age of 60. Typical gov’t program with no forethought.
Things I’m curious about (this is rhetorical; I’m not expecting anyone to know):
how many were turned in by the same person who legally bought or somehow “made” them.
how many were turned in by biological males.
Suspicion: Most were stolen property, many others inherited property (and some stolen, then inherited). Most were turned in by women, left behind, by a dying father, brother, son, or spouse. Others abandoned by a husband, son, or boyfriend that took off, went to prison, just disappeared, etc.
By the way, does anybody know what happened to the Hunter Biden, illegally purchased, gun?
And how many of those women traded them in because they wanted to get rid of the scary guns before they could sneak up and shoot them? Can’t be too careful.
“By the way, does anybody know what happened to the Hunter Biden, illegally purchased, gun”?
The FBI must have it in their “Lost and found” department.
Everyone should have an old rusted broken Bryco around in case of a buyback. Then you can go out and buy a decent AR or Glock!
It won’t be long and these dopes will be sorry, About November 15, they will realize they made a mistake.
LOL! I remember that!

Yes, just like “giving back to the community”, as though you stole what you earned through your hard work.
Have You priced a
‘Brown Bess’ lately?

Even a Kit is a Grand!
That really wasn’t the point of my comment. :0)
Explaining the Constitution
