Democrat Mary Peltola won the special election to fill Alaska's House seat for the remainder of 2022, according to unofficial results released by the Alaska Division of Elections, thwarting former Gov. Sarah Palin's bid at a political comeback -- at least for a few months. Peltola emerged as the victor Wednesday when Alaska's Division of Elections tabulated ranked-choice ballots in the state's first use of the system.

I voted for Trump twice and in Florida, I’ll actually be voting for candidates who will win.
Trump also said to support Dr. Oz and while I hope he wins, don’t kid yourself. If Dr. Oz squeaks to victory, he’ll be Mitch McConnell’s new best friend and only slightly less liberal than John Fetterman.
I’ll vote three times for Trump in 2024.
BREAKING: DEMOCRAT Peltola DEFEATS Republican Sarah Palin in Alaska Special Election — FIRST DEMOCRAT WIN IN 50 YEARS! — THANKS TO RANK CHOICE VOTING AND MAIL-IN BALLOTS
A lot of Alaska Republicans are still angry at Sarah Palin for quitting the Governorship. And if she had run for President in 2012 she might have been elected, but instead she just did a national bus tour and then dropped out of the race. Sarah Palin has a political track record as a quitter, and now she can’t even get elected to Congress.
RANK CHOICE VOTING is a democrat idea...
I wish you GOP hacks would drop off the face of the earth.
Begich is hardly a “RINO.” His policy positions are virtually indistinguishable from Palin’s. He has a solid conservative voting record.
A portion of his voters simply couldn’t stomach the Palin shenanigans.
Absolutely! Just want to count the legitimate votes. Not a chance.
I didn't call Begich a RINO. I called the voters who would rather have a Democrat as a second choice rather than Palin, RINO's. I went on to say that those RINO voters will be our downfall.
Thanx to murk & her staffers who set this ranked voting scam up
As always, you got a bad case of hate Trump. Stay in Tokyo.
“. . . moved to AZ, But did not stay.”
Too much heat for her maybe.
Of course they will.
Alaska has a crazy voting system.
Some kind of ranked choice nonsense.
I dont have a clue what exhausted ballots mean. Ironically, there were enough that could have swayed the election.
There is rigged rank choice voting in Maine. Dems run many candidates and steal the vote.
per the website of the Secretary of State of Alaska:
“Alaska is a paper-based ballot voting system. All voters vote a paper ballot.”

“That’s simply not how RCV works.”
I don’t really care how RCV works. Palin easily beat Begich in first choice. Begich split the first choice voting. If he would have dropped out, Palin would have won hands down whether it was RCV or not. Enough RINO Republicans would have held their nose and voted for her and give her a straight up victory. He was the spoiler and lost twice to her head to head.
RCV is a rigged system to give RINOs and Dem an unfair advantage. If RINOs want to destroy a conservative, they simple payoff another fake conservative to run (RINO) to split the vote and first choice. This is how your type of Republicans destroy this country and try to maintain power.
The most accurate poll of the race had Palin losing head to head with Pelota while Begich was consistently FAR ahead of her. That’s what played out. It’s laughable to think that the people who wanted Begich but couldn’t stomach Palin would have done anything different without RCV.
The people who liked Begich but didn’t like Palin’s antics would have done the same.
We’ve seen this game play out in other States without RCV.
Alabama is the most recent example. The Republicans there rejected Roy Moore and allowed a leftist Democrat to get elected. Two years later, when offered a conservative Republican without the baggage, they elected him by a landslide.
Todd Akin is another example.
That’s the reality. YOUR brand of Republican, (Palin, O’Donnell, Angle, Akin, Moore) loses and loses consistently, even in bright Red States. There were members of the moron class pushing Amanda Chase over Youngkin in Virginia, when the same thing would have played out there.
We need candidates who are conservative AND can win, not celebrity grifters who play only to the base without regard for crossing the finish line.
DeSantis is a great example of what we need. That’s “my type of Republican.” I guess he isn’t yours.
