Judge Rules Photographer Cannot Be Forced to Shoot Same-Sex Weddings

A federal judge ruled yesterday that the city of Louisville, Kentucky, cannot ban a Christian photographer from limiting her wedding photography business to opposite-sex couples. In the lawsuit which Petapixel has previously reported on, photographer Chelsey Nelson challenged a Louisville law that required her to take photographs and blog online for same-sex weddings.

Louisville’s 20-year-old “Fairness Ordinance” prevents discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. However, the lawsuit, filed on behalf of wedding photographer Chelsey Nelson by the conservative advocacy group Alliance Defending Freedom, alleges that the city’s law infringes on Nelson’s freedom of religion and speech.

Beaton ruled that the city can not ban the photographer from limiting her wedding photography business to opposite-sex marriages and can not prohibit her from explaining her religious beliefs on her website and blogs, reports The Washington Times.

SCOTUS ruled on this twice in the Colorado cases.

So, it looks like time for Louisville to judge-shop to counter this ruling. What are the justices in Hawaii doing these days?! :p

It shouldn’t have even gone to trial. Just go hire someone else.

Freedom of Association must include Freedom from Association or it's not a freedom at all.

What of you are not comfortable with, or outright scared of taking pictures or catering at a satanic wedding or a gangster family wedding?
The right to say "No!" is the basis for all other rights.
They can hire someone else.

His ordeal is just beginning. Appeals and the attendant expenses will drive him to bankruptcy. Then there’ll be mob action.

Exactly. The business man should be able to select his customers.

Here's an interesting comment from a PetaPixel reader:

"Businesses should be able to choose their customers just as much as customers should be able to choose their businesses. If a business discriminates, they cut off their customer base, and if they do it enough then they go out of business and "the trash has taken itself out."

Everyone that has queerdom forced on them like this should file lawsuits.

Same thing for libtard racism. File lawsuits

Being able to force someone to do something against their values and against their will is slavery - this is not merely people seeking services but wanting someone to actively participate in their chosen lifestyle and go to venues she does not wish to attend or witness.

If I were to own a public business (photography, cake baker, etc . . ), I would advertise it as a “club”. With a 1$ fee to join. The club rules are you shoot pictures, bake cakes in YOUR manner and have the right to turn down anyone. Also I would refund anybody their dollar at any time. The club concept precludes any lawsuit funny business.

“...Just go hire someone else.”

The photographer was likely targeted by the couple.
They feel emboldened enough to attempt to force their beliefs and lifestyle upon any random person they encounter.

That’s what bullies do.

My thoughts exactly, there are lots of wedding photographers out there.

I am sure in a city the size of Louisville, Kentucky the homos or lesbos could have found at least one WOKE photographer.

I can understand a lawsuit if they were denied a mortgage loan because of their personal PERVERSION, or medical treatment; to put it in BRAINDEAD BIDENS lingo, “C’MON MAN, IT’S A PICTURE”.

..Just go hire someone else.”

As in other cases, perfect opportunity to solve the problem with good old American entrepreneurship. Someone start a photo business catering to that crowd ! ! Not STUPID lawsuits
