The Supreme National Emergency Committee, an organization representing security prisoners, announced the beginning of a hunger strike of a thousand prisoners starting Thursday in protest of the prison service's failure to respond to their demands for improved prison conditions.
The leadership of the security prisoners recently began a series of escalating protest measures in preparation for the announcement of a general hunger strike, within the framework of which all the organizations that represented the prisoners before the prison service were disbanded and it was decided to engage in a campaign of disobedience.
Palestinian Prisoners Society head Kadora Fares emphasized that the security prisoners will not submit to Israel's policy of "breaking their spirit and steadfastness," and they set an ultimatum to Israel to respond to their demands by tomorrow.

Carpenter’s song for hunger strike: good one.
(I bet not too many of us get this one)
True I’m showing my age.
Im 61, but my mom and older sister really loved the Carpenters. My neighbor died of anexoria, about the same time Karen died. (On Saturday mornings, time to clean the house, we either played The Carpenters or The Singing Nuns.)
We girls would be singing and cleaning.
Top the day off with Mass and then eat pizza while watching wrestling. Good times.
Regardless of any other issues she had the woman had a perfect voice, that’s for sure.
Awesome song writer, too.
Pretty good drummer, too.
I have never understood hunger strikes. They are premised on the belief that those who are being struck against actually care about the strikers’ welfare. Do these animals actually think anyone cares what happens to them? Let the media feed them.
Hell, let them starve. Just push a cart by their cells every day and offer them food, Record them refusing food.
There’ll be riots in Ghaza and other Arab settlements.
> There’ll be riots in Ghaza and other Arab settlements.
Of course - it’s a day ending in “y.”
And there’ll be lots of phone calls by Abbas to the usual mushy world “leaders” to pressure Israel into caving to whatever their demands are this time.
And more riots. And leftists in the Knesset teaming up with Arab parties and squishy Likud princes (Begin and Meridor’s sons being most prominent) to pressure the prison and threatening legislation.
These may not be strikes, in the traditional sense. These
days they call it a strike if they are eating a meal a day.
If that’s what is going on here, they know the media will
use their terminology. Why put yourself through the real
deal it the media will lie for you?
Not their first rodeo.
