Progressive Democrats, including President Biden, constantly complain about threats to democracy. And yet, they are more than willing to disregard the democratic process if that’s what it takes to get their way. Biden’s half-trillion-dollar student loan “forgiveness” overreach is the latest and most egregious example.
Progressives have increasingly embraced the “one person, one vote, once” view of democracy. Once their candidate is elected president, it is his (or eventually her) job to implement the progressive agenda.
If the president has the votes in Congress to pass that agenda through the normal, constitutionally mandated process, fine. Go with that.
But if he doesn’t have the votes, progressive Democrats will demand that he do whatever it takes to implement the agenda anyway. Because the ends – that is, the progressive vision – is more important than the constitutionally-prescribed process.

This focus-grouped "Threat to Democracy" drummed up by the Left is so hideous.
Basically, they're saying--if you vote for Trump, you are a threat to our democracy.
How is a vote a threat? Isn't a vote, and then the majority wins, the very essence of democracy?
The ‘rats had to burn our democracy to save it.
All anyone has to do is read Saul Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals to see this has been their game plan for over 50 years!
The Democrats call themselves that as though they’re democratic but they publicly and proudly support Socialism.
When one comes to the realization that the “democrats” of today are, in fact COMMUNISTS, then it all becomes crystal clear.
And combine Alinsky tactics with Cloward-Piven and we have what we have now.
democrats don’t have to care about democracy. they steal the elections.
Any vote for a democrat us a vote for the destruction of America! Remember in 70 days.....
Democracy is too precious to risk allowing people to vote.
Even when they do vote it’s the huge, cram up your... ,well, down your throat legislation. In saner times a tied Senate and a few seat House majority would be the sign of a divided electorate and a period of compromise and small legislation, not multitrillion dollar reformatting of the economy. Save the big stuff for Rooseveltian majorities in Congress
Yup.
Ultra MAGA didn’t poll so well so now it is about semi-fascists and threat to our democracy.
We’ll see how that polls.
The 60 vote rule in the senate is to thwart the tyranny of the majority. 50+1 is not democracy. Just sayin.
Indeed
What you say is true but keep in mind the ethnicity of the USA
is changing. As a result of it things will change such as laws,
needs, etc. Just look at the history of this country called the USA
from the time Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 until what
is the standard today. Day/Night, apples/oranges or whatever.
A party that systematically cheats to win elections has no respect for democracy. Glad the Hill is catching up.
Progressives have increasingly embraced the “one person, one vote, once” view of democracy.
As Section 3 of the US Constitution demonstrates, the Founding Fathers disagreed, else they would not have specifically given the VEEP the power to break ties in the Senate.
But it's a Straw Man argument because 50+1 Senators (or 50 Senators and one VEEP) do not can not unilaterally make law.
No contradiction there:
Soviet Union had one party, only party members voted
German Democratic Republic, the same, and Democrat in the name
Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea, the same
Sadam Hussein’s Iraq the same, and he got 100% of the vote, didn’t he?
It’s all the same to the tyrannical, though. It’s not who votes, it’s who counts the votes.
Oh, the Democrat Party here in the US has how many ‘Super Delegates’ in their primaries to ensure the ‘right’ person wins the nomination?
