Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo hinted at a 2024 presidential run while attending Rep. Jeff Duncan’s Faith and Freedom Barbecue, asserting that if he decides to run, he’ll jump in no matter who is in the race.
Pompeo was obviously alluding to former President Trump. He made the comments on Monday in front of 1,500 conservatives at the South Carolina GOP event where potential presidential candidates have spoken previously in the early presidential primary state, according to The Herald.
“We’re going to make our decision based on if we think this is the right place for us to serve,” he asserted. “If I come to believe I ought to become president, that I have something to offer the American people, I will run no matter who all decides to get in and who else decides not to get in the race.”

Pompeo couldn’t beat Trump. But he could build name recognition for 2028.

Compare that to Cruz who rightly said it WILL matter if Trump gets in and he won’t run against Trump.
I love it! Running a MAGA adherent is a good thing. It will help to keep Trump honest. I would have preferred Lighthizer. This is a great way to audition a VP candidate.

Pompeo has something that DeSantis doesn't have....foreign policy experience...and it's so damn important at this time. DeSantis would make an awesome VP...he's a fighter and knows the political ropes domestically.
A Pompeo/DeSantis perfect fits the country at this point in time.
I do believe it's a ticket that Trump would support 100%.
