GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — A jury on Tuesday convicted two men of conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2020, a swift victory for prosecutors in a foiled plot that was described as a rallying cry for a U.S. civil war by anti-government extremists.
Adam Fox and Barry Croft Jr. were also found guilty of conspiring to obtain a weapon of mass destruction, namely a bomb to blow up a bridge and stymie police if the kidnapping could be pulled off at Whitmer’s vacation home.
Croft, 46, a trucker from Bear, Delaware, was also convicted of another explosives charge. The jury deliberated for roughly eight hours over two days.
It was the second trial for the pair after a jury in April couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict after five days. Two other men were acquitted and two more pleaded guilty and testified for prosecutors.
The result was a big win for the U.S. Justice Department following the shocking mixed outcome last spring.

Seeing as the judge disallowed most of the defendant’s entrapment arguments that led to the previous hung jury, this outcome isn’t surprising.
Another show trial. Another case of entrapment by the FBI.
The DOJ got their narrative in... The judge limited the defense which will be grounds for an appeal and retrial. That will take a couple of years and will let them hold the narrative through the mid terms. In the mean time... expect the DOJ to point to these convictions to continue their targeting of conservatives.
Entrapment. We should use this as a clear call to reform federal law enforcement.
Yep, pre-determined outcome. Kangaroo court. Stupid, uninformed jurors.
Jury shopped.
Judge Robert Jonker was trying to steer the jury towards a conviction. He gave the jurors some special instructions last Friday even before Monday’s final arguments.
I hope they can find the funds for an appeal. I believe the judge was biased in this case. It was clear entrapment.
If the accused have the resources they will win on appeal.
Juror misconduct
JKelly’s feed says it’s the jury foreman
Unreal.
Justice. What justice? This is the kind of stuff that makes tensions boil over, but only for .1% of informed citizens.
Sorry, but people that do stupid things win stupid prizes.
“He described Fox as poor and living in the basement of a Grand Rapids-area vacuum shop...”
He should have called the vacuum shop and asked the guy for a new dust filter for his Hoover MaxExtract PressurePro model 60.
More lives ruined by the American Gestapo (i.e. FBI).
“people that do stupid things win stupid prizes.”
Even stupid people have a right not to be set up for entrapment by the Feds.
Remember—half the population has an IQ under 100.
The ones on trial should be those who carry FBI identity cards!
Unbelievable. Corrupt judge equals no justice for innocent defendants but a win for the corrupt FBI.
It’s really sad we have come to this Stalinist/Mao/Nazi style government and justice system.
