This sounds like a desperate Deep State leak to cover up the fact that the FBI was really searching for Crossfire Hurricane documents. Of course, President Trump had the authority to DECLASSIFY the documents.

Back in the day classification was done rather sparingly. Now days it is overdone because in government having a high clearance is a resume builder. When I had the opportunity I ditched my TS SCI because it was more hassle than it was worth.

The President IS the "National Command Authority" (NCA)!
While in office, the NCA has complete authority to declassify as he pleases.
The notion that he's required to follow up and re-portion mark the documents is complete nonsense.
Thus, referring to the material found at his home as "Classified Documents" demonstrates complete ignorance.
