This is an insult to those who pay their debts. Congress recklessly spends to buy votes and increase the debt. College students recklessly spend to buy degees which cannot repay the debt and expect a taxpayer bailout.

Folks who handle student loans have no access to income info and the irs can’t release info. So how will they confirm your income is under 125k?

Specific subsets of the population....,
Let me guess
Like the current crop of doctors, not exactly cream of the crop but foreigners did get in from certain locals I guess that’s a subset thing too.

What part of the Constitution gives the POTUS the right to cancel the debts of some citizens and assign those debts to all of the other citizens?

They should only get that IF THEY GOT A DEGREE AND GRADUATED.
THAT should be the requirement. Not this f-ing around nonstop keg party BS and screw around for 5-6 years just taking classes so they don’t have to actually get a job and ring up a tab the US taxpayers are on the hook for.

What about the tradesmen (plumbers, electricians, etc) who were required to purchase tools and equipment to operate?

article:
"the plan is designed to offer the forgiveness to individuals in exchange for votes who earn less than $125,000…" Fixed it.

Joe Biden is so generous. An earlier story said he was giving Mozambique $41 million dollars and now he’s forgiving $10,000 of student debt for everyone who hasn’t paid off their debt and makes less than $125,000. For those who did the right thing and paid off their debt—too bad.
What a guy!

Constitution says ‘equal protection’; SCOTUS has ruled in the past that it NOT only applies to race.

I could get behind this IF, in exchange, they irreversibly forfeit any credentials achieved from the education AND all credits earned should be zeroed. If you get a refund for a real good you bought, you don’t get to keep the item.

Hmmm, as an Honorably Discharged Vet, I used my well-earned GI Bill benefits to pay for much of my undergrad, and I worked (worked) to support myself through grad school.
With the above, and along with my academic achievements, I learned hard work, responsibility, and a focus toward success that benefitted me and my family since.
Now, I feel a metaphorical "slap" across my 70+ year-old face as my tax money is to be used to underwrite play time for young adults.

NOTHING IS CANCALLED!
Simply transferring the debt from a bunch of deadbeats to TAXPAYERS.
Believing they will receive votes for this action.
AKA vote buying.
