People put way too much emotional stock into their candidates (or into the candidates they hate). A politician is simply a human being making his living in government and can go one way or the other, depending on what he thinks people want. (Well, actually, what the media wants...)
But the basic point is that it’s all a numbers game. We need to get more numbers than they do, or we won’t have any input no matter how great our picks are and how much we love them.
But as the Psalmist said, “put not your trust in princes nor in the son of man.” Politicians are fallible human beings like all of us.
Regardless of his other pros and cons, I find it shocking that a person Oprah loves and who had him on a feature on her old show and pushed him to get his own show——would not be at 90% popularity with all parties.

Problem was, I was still stuck with evil in the end, and felt remorse when the person I had voted for, and who had won, turned out to be the POS we knew he/she was when they ran. Donald Trump was the first Republican Presidential candidate since Reagan that I didn't have to hold my nose to vote for, and I've vowed never to hold my nose ever again.
