Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that everyone is coalescing around former President Donald Trump after the FBI raid of his Florida estate.
Crenshaw said, “I’m not one to withhold criticism and even make my own side mad. I want to get to the truth. I will be honest with you here. It’s hard to justify what the Department of Justice did here, in my opinion. Here’s why. Here’s what it really boils down to: It’s not a question that it’s bad to have classified material in a non-SCIF environment, that’s a non-secret compartmental compartmentalized location, that is wrong, but there is ways to solve this issue. I still haven’t seen any evidence that Trump was asked to give these documents back. He’s been cooperating with them on these issues for a while now, for months. Why take it to an extreme extent? I think that’s why you’re seeing so much backlash from Republicans. You’re seeing everyone coalesce. It doesn’t matter what side of the issue they’re on with Trump. We’ve seen a lot coalesce around this one because it does seem unjust, and there does seem to be a long history of loss of credibility at the Department of Justice at the hands of Democrats. I think people are rightfully frustrated about that.

Go to hell one-eyed McCain.
Crenshaw was initially very popular down here in Texas. Not so much any longer. Although he doesn’t represent my district, I work with folks that are in his district.
I honestly don’t think he will be re-elected next go around.
My two pet peeves on FR threads are acronyms that no one can interpret......plus folks posting photos of someone not too familiar without letting us know who the someone is.

I saw that. I’m keeping an eye on you.
I concur. It’s annoying.
He’s been a huge disappointment to me as well, but I’m encouraged by his comments.
I’m not seeing or hearing much legacy media reporting on reaction to the Trump raid (other than their leftist buddies being thrilled by it), but if the likes of Crenshaw is saying conservatives and Republicans are coalescing around PDJT in the wake of the raid, there must be a huge and undeniable groundswell of support.
No boosters for me. Just a desire to control the Senate and the House. The circular firing squad of the stupid party is less than optimal.
The Trump hater is trying to sound fair and balanced.
It gets real old.
I agree.
That's exactly the kind of thinking which put us where we are right now.
I’ve never coalesced in my life.

Re: 18 - you are correct. As am I when noting he lost that eye in combat, which President Trump never engaged in.

Maybe some Freepers with more recent military experience can enlighten me. This sentence of Crenshaw’s seems like BS to me.
“It’s not a question that it’s bad to have classified material in a non-SCIF environment, that’s a non-secret compartmental compartmentalized location, that is wrong, but there is ways to solve this issue. “
It implies that ALL classified information must be handled in a SCIF. In my military experience, that applied to only the most highly classified information. “Secret” or “Confidential” information was not required to be handled in a SCIF location, for example.
What Crenshaw seems to be trying to set up is the notion that if Trump had any level of classified information, it was required to be in a SCIF location. Thus making, well, a mountain out of a molehill, while trying to sound objective about Trump.
It has been over 10 years since I handled classified information. Have things changed this much?
