PRAYER
Dear Lord, As we offer You thanks and praise, we realize how important it is to stay prepared for all the surprises in life. Daily, so many things catch us off guard, though they seem to happen over and over again. Would life be easier if we could begin the day with, "This is a drill. This is a drill"? Would we be any more prepared if there were drills for the many personal challenges we respond to daily? Besides a "general quarters" for missile hits, we'd prepare to take hits for all the mistakes we're bound to make in the course of a day. In addition to handling major fuel oil leaks, we'd be trained to stop major gossip leaks before they have a chance to hurt our shipmates' reputations. With drills for day-to-day life scenarios, not only would we be prepared to fight "Class Charlie" fires, but through regular drilling we'd learn to extinguish classroom behavior which too often alienates those who are young and new to our crew. Since we find ourselves in need of greater help, we call out to You, Lord, over the sound-powered phone of prayer. Surely Your throne is the Damage Control Central, where You plot our lives and note our dilemmas. We confess that we have crossed the secondary and even the primary boundaries You set to protect us. Therefore, we flee to Your repair locker for grace and mercy. Lord, patch us up, revive us, and restore us. Keep us fit to serve You with renewed strength and ready to take on each new day. In Your strong name we pray. Amen CDR David D. Schilling, CHC, USN

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:7 & 8

Last friday, in between students, the Master Cylinder breathed its last and i was left with no rear brake. It was, after all, 30 years old and had 42,000+ miles on it. The Mechanic was surprised I hadn’t had to replace it sooner.
I still had a front brake and fifty years of riding experience, but it had to be tended to immediately.
Downshifting, feathering the clutch and front brake, and throttling down is a touchy way to stop a 650 pound motorcycle.
Not to mention the Ol’ Fred Flintstone Braking Method.

Howdy, Kathy.
Yes, today was much busier and we all had a few tours. I expected a good turnout since the weather wasn’t the best for a day at the lake and such. Cloudy with clouds threatening to drop rain at any time, and scattered showers did move through.
The new shoes stayed home today. LOL They did well during their “test run” yesterday and will serve well when it gets too chilly for flip flops. But the flip flops were back in service today and will stay in service until probably October.
Still waiting for the live cam to be fixed so I can see what’s going on up there. They have to wait until the rain stops so they can climb up to check it out. I did see a lot of rain around the Anchorage area on the radar. You’re probably sick of it by now but did you ever need it!

I did manage to get it to my Mechanic who is 10 miles away.
If the brake pads wear out, the effect is gradual and noisy.
The Master Cylinder was silent and sudden.
Anyway, it’s all fixed now and ready for anoother 30 years and 42,000 miles.
