Key Bridge Restored by Russia Bombed Again in Ukraine Strike

Ukraine's forces struck a bridge of strategic importance to Russia shortly after President Vladimir Putin's military managed to restore it.

Serhiy Khlan wrote Ukraine's armed forces created "fireworks" at the bridge in the city of Kakhovkaridge in the city of Kakhovka. "It looks like there won't be a grand opening," wrote Khlan, who is a deputy chairman of the Kherson Regional Council.

In a subsequent post, Khlan said that Ukraine's Operational Command South had also confirmed that Ukrainian forces "destroyed the plans of the occupiers to repair and use" the bridge. The defense ministries of Russia and Ukraine were contacted for confirmation and comment.

The Kakhovka bridge, which runs over the Nova Kakhovka dam, is important to Russia because it was being used to transport military equipment in Ukraine's occupied Kherson region. When Ukraine's Operational Command South detailed an earlier strike on the bridge in an August 12 Facebook post, Khlan said on the platform that it was the last bridge connecting the right and left banks.

This meant that "the Russians no longer have any opportunity to completely transfer their equipment," he wrote, according to an English translation of his post.

"Of course, they will try to repair it, look for an alternative crossing, but it takes time and money and as soon as they prepare and gather equipment and strength, we will destroy it again," Khlan added.

Friday's reported strike, if true, seemed to follow through on that promise.

An August 18 operational update from Ukraine's Defense Ministry said that Russia was working to maintain its control over the Kherson region and parts of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolayiv oblasts (provinces). It is also trying to secure full control of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions while "restoring the combat capability of units that have suffered losses."

Pin-pricks don’t win wars or conflicts........

They do when they take our vital bridges, ammo and fuel depots, and command posts.

This is essentially why Russia can never win.

It’s too easy to destroy. Hard to create.

Has Kyiv fallen yet? Have the Russians reached Lviv? Is Zelensky dead? Is that why the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters are burning this morning?

Likewise, with over 200K Ukrainians dead or wounded, apparently, its “pretty easy to kill” Ukrainian soldiers, yeah?

I don’t think Ukrainians want to live under Russian rule.

Maybe you have not noticed.

I’m not sure Russian soldiers are even eager to take Ukraine.

Russia’s goals are not and were not to “take Ukraine.”

The long stated goals were two-fold:
1) Severely hamper or destroy Ukraine’s military and/or capacity to wage war/conflict. Which they are doing and doing on a scale the West/US can’t keep up with.
2) Take all areas with predominantly Russian populace or ethnicity. etc. Which they have largely done.

Bwaahahah you’re lying

of course they wanted all of Ukraine

that’s why Russia attacked on all fronts, and tried to encircle Kiev, but got their asses kicked (and any claims that it was “just a feint” are Russian ass-covering)

now they temporarily hold a tiny less-than-100-mile-wide band along the SE border

meanwhile 90% of Ukraine is unoccupied, the Ukrainian Government is still fully functioning, and the Russian advance has been halted

and the sanctions will stay in place till Russia leaves

this still has a long way to go, dude

Swallow the EU/US/Western media spun propaganda concerning Ukraine but I am a liar? LMAOGTFO.

90% of Ukraine is unoccupied?
But I am lying and your are not?
Seen a map of Russian held areas in Ukraine?
More than 90% dink.

And given Ukraine has resorted to largely pin-prick guerilla operations, the war/conflict on the verge of being over for Ukraine.....the EU knows this, NATO knows this, the US is just stuck on stupid.

They’ve obviously failed

They tried to take Kiev.

It’s ok to make moral distinctions.

Russia/Putin is in the wrong.

We should want them to fail and lose.

They do not wish you well.
