I am in favor of this decision for two reasons.
One, the Sikhs are in general good people.
And two, if a Muslim should try to highjack a plane a Sikh would have no problem stabbing him to death.

Sikhs and Gurkhas been killing mussies for 1,000 years. They have memories as long as the mussies.
I think your #2 reason is why there are folks who don’t want Sikh’s to be able to carry a Kirpan on the flights.
It’s a good idea in general. And, as you said,”...in general, they are a good people.”
Imagine, if those on 9/11 had been armed with their own weapons and didn’t hesitate to use them.
We do know for a fact there was one airplane’s folks who saved thousands because they opted to try to take the plane back.... heroes....
A kirpan a day keeps the hijacker away . . or something like that.
The problem is a Muslim or other grabbing the dagger from the Sikh and going on a killing spree. The presence of a weapon (not belonging to trained security personnel ) is itself a hazard.
Sikhs have on occasion bombed planes, among other things. They are better than Muslims, but worse than Christians or Jews.
