The CDC cannot employ any of the Covid laws and guidelines to the gay community.

It's not viable to fire her before the midterms, and she may not have a landing spot at MGH, certainly not as chief. She's already been replaced by Ruanne Barnabas who won't be moving on any time soon.
She can't survive with a glass ceiling defense, CDC has had female directors before. Julie Gerberding served for seven years.
But, after the midterms, she will be moving on, probably to an NGO or a Foundation.
She lives in Newton, MA and will be looking for something close to home.
It was quite a reach to give up the chief's job at MGH to go to CDC, which has been a mess for years. But, as they say, if you buy the ticket you have to take the ride.
The CDC’s almost sole purpose was to provide health care advisory information — nothing more. However, in the blind rage to get Orange Man, the Democrat fascists, along with their corrupt MSM arm, began, in a very heavy-handed manner, to leverage the CDC into an organization that issued health care diktats rather than mere advisories. Once that started Walensky then eagerly prostituted the CDC for Democrat political purposes. Over and over, every news story about Covid contained the following, “The CDC says...” which then became the de facto rule of law who none dared to transgress, or YOU weren’t following the science! and were therefore a conspiracy kook who selfishly hated the societal good and wanted to kill grandparents.
I believe this is why you saw Walensky use the CDC to keep changing the “guidance” (almost daily) to aid the changing political landscape and narrative. The CDC was no longer just a national advisory organization as intended; nope, Walensky willingly turned the CDC into a partisan propaganda apparatus.
And this is exactly why Walensky has suddenly done a mea cupla and pledged changes. The jig is up. She knows she intentionally allowed the CDC to be used and now their reputation is - correctly - in a shambles. Other than the purple-haired crowd, who would honestly trust the CDC wasn’t just spewing partisan political propaganda?
IMO, and based upon the “reforms” Walesky herself has pledged, she was a willing participant in turning the CDC into a partisan machine. She got caught and she is trying to save herself and the CDC. I ain’t buyin’.
Sounds sort of like a ‘physician heal thyself’ situation.
Or, fox, watcheth mine chickens.
Wait an overhaul, but we were told they were perfect and need to be fully trusted.

My lifetime best friend for 47 years, and my M.D. (GP) died at 78 in what we all thought was pristine health. He ate right, worked out, and was extremely disciplined in all things.
The last 2 years of his life was stroke 1, 1 year later stroke 2, 1 year later seizure. But, the last several months of his life, they had him locked up in a elderly care facility and even his wife could only see him through glass.
The rest of us (scores of people) didn’t get to see him the last 3 months of his life at all.
Ugh. Yeah, no doubt.
