"Intimate contact" doesn't even explain it all. Don't men and women have intimate contact with each other on a frequent basis?
There is something particularly debased and disgusting about what homosexual men do, something completely foreign to normal men and women.

Anal sex stretches the skin membrane and even if not blood passes between them their is increased damage when they repeat the act. Eventually the weakened anal membrane will allow bodily fluids to pass thru thus infection.
