None of the 19 sororities at the University of Alabama were interested in having a male student named Grant Sikes join them this year.
The student, who uses “she/her” pronouns, called the decisions “extremely upsetting” and “sad” in a TikTok video, where Sikes had been documenting the sorority application journey.
Sikes wrote a note on Instagram:
First and foremost, I would like to thank my family, friends and everyone who has come along during this journey with me. From the thousands of messages to meeting the funniest people, I had the best time.
Unfortunately this chapter is closed. This recruitment journey is over for me. Being dropped from my last house this morning during primary recruitment at the University of Alabama doesn’t come as a surprise considering out of the almost 20 chapters I was dropped by every single one except 2 before day 1: Gamma Phi Beta and Kappa Alpha Theta.
I’m hopeful for a future where everyone is welcomed for just being themselves —everywhere.

A transgender man to woman has no idea of what a woman thinks, feels, has gone through, deals with, and what struggles a woman has faced.
Enough with erasing women. We are not disposable or made of legos simply replacing one block of colored legos with another lego shape.
The best woman as a woman IS a woman. The same goes for a trans woman to man. She can never be a man. She can never equate to men and has no idea of what a man is other than some superficial context.

Sorority rush at big colleges is already a self-selecting ritual, like begets like and the young ladies try to ape the characteristics that they believe their houses of choice are looking for. Hundreds of ladies, maybe thousands, aren't offered a bid each rush season for many reasons, some very good, some insanely trivial and petty, some for no reason at all.
This dude, by virtue of preening himself in a way that mocks femininity, is a living example of not wanting to fit in. He wants society to bend to his fantasy of acceptance, and the internet echo chambers he lives most of his life in have been screaming "yaaas queen!" at him for so long that he believes his own BS. Even in the woke world of higher education, reality gets a vote.
But Bruce Gender is a 72 yo man pretending to be a 40’ish woman and he is accepted by “weird” society. Sick bastards….
