Given Liz Cheney's overwhelming defeat in yesterday's Wyoming Republican congressional primary, it would be a very uphill slog for her to win a national GOP presidential primary, should that be her goal for 2024. In a mark of just how steep that climb would be, on today's New Day, CNN cast the two legs of Cheney's base of support as . . . Democrats, and the Beltway media!
First up was CNN polling maven Harry Enten. Pointing to results showing Cheney with a negative -17 favorability among independents, and a whopping -53 points among Republicans, Enten said:
"She does have a base within the Democratic party, right, at plus 36."
During the subsequent panel discussion, CNN political analyst Nia-Malika Henderson offered a surprisingly candid take, one that wouldn't have been out of place coming from us! She said:
HENDERSON: In so many ways, Liz Cheney is a person without a party. I mean, her party in many ways is the Beltway media [chuckles].

They should be in breaking news because CNN actually got some thing right for the first time in probably a year or two.
And Democrats and the Beltway Media would abandon her in a second when she opposes an authentic progressive Democrat. The fact that Cheney doesn’t understand this is a symptom of how deranged she truly is.

I’m surprised CNN tagged it as a landslide loss. I really thought they would find excuses for Cheney losing, while at the same time trashing Trump and Republican voters.

And when it doesn’t involve the Dem state.
Its not funny. Its a BIG problem, and not just specifically to Cheney. What this person just admitted is that Cheney wasn't acting in the interests of the people, but for a connected 'elite'. This is the big problem.
And just thinking about it, when I was in undergrad, journalism was at about the same level as elementary education in terms of perceived rigor intellectually. When I read or hear these people, I generally think of Goya's painting of Charles IV of Spain and his family. And those are our 'betters'...

Liz is now free from making the obligatory trips to WY and will plot her political comeback from the comfort of her Great Falls, VA home. Wouldn’t be surprised to see her run for VA Gov in three years.
CNN is changing.
Exactly, she huffs and puffs about destroying people who don't abide by our constitution. But she was elected to represent the people of Wyoming and she purposefully did not represent them as the election results indicate. So, she did not follow the constitution and represent the will of the people she represented.
