Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) was projected to advance from the state’s Republican Senate primary, setting her up to compete in November’s midterm general election.
The Associated Press made the call at 1:41 p.m. ET.
The incumbent senator was widely expected to advance from the all-party primary in which the top four vote-getters advanced to the general election.
The primary was seen as a test for former President Trump’s endorsement. Trump backed Murkowski’s primary challenger Kelly Tschibaka in the wake of Murkowski’s vote to convict him in his second impeachment trial.
Tschibaka was also projected to advance early Wednesday morning.

She could also be who the people in Alaska want to represent them.

If the front-runner doesn’t have that percentage of the vote, the candidate with the fewest votes that round drops off the ballot, and those who ranked that candidate first will have their votes go to their second choice.
The process continues until a candidate has more than 50 percent of the vote. Until the voter is disenfranchised from his true choice in a runoff. This is basically the incumbent protection act.

As has been posted many times, democrats crossed over and voted for Murkowski in droves. This isn’t necessarily on Alaska Republicans. If it was a closed primary, without ranked choice voting, Murkowski wouldn’t have beat Tschibaka.

What is wrong with Alaska?A lot of Alaskans are dependent upon government largesse which Murkowski has shown she’s good at bringing back home.

She could also be who the people in Alaska want to represent them True, but I guess I have a bit more faith in the people of Alaska to believe that - for now.

The dirty little secret is that a majority of Alaskans feed at the government trough. Lisa knows which side of her constituency’s bread to butter. Dad taught her well….

And Alaska is pretty much a medium-sized city’s population spread over a giant land mass - far easier to manipulate results than in Florida or Ohio.

Yea, she would have gotten 20% in a Republican primary. When you know you can’t win you change the rules. Republicans need to find a way to ensure she doesn’t get in. Just don’t rank her at all (not sure if that’s allowed). Also, rank the Democrat ahead of her.

Tschibaka was also projected to advance early Wednesday morning.
I'm a bit confused. How does Alaska's elections work?

Keeping Merkowski means that Alaska has either gone the way of South Carolina with respect to their keeping Lindsey Graham in office or their elections are all rigged. I believe the latter.

Interesting, and thanks for the correction. I’ve read previously that AK was the only state with it, and clearly that’s incorrect. Appreciate it.
