GOP slashes ads in key Senate battlegrounds (PA, OH, NC)

As midterm election campaigns heat up in the Senate’s top battlegrounds, the National Republican Senatorial Committee is canceling millions of dollars of ad spending, sending GOP campaigns and operatives into a panic and upending the committee’s initial spending plan.

The cuts — totaling roughly $13.5 million since Aug. 1 — come as the Republicans’ Senate campaign committee is being forced to “stretch every dollar we can,” said a person familiar with the NRSC’s deliberations. Republican nominees in critical states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina — places the GOP must defend this fall — have failed to raise enough money to get on air themselves, requiring the NRSC to make cuts elsewhere to accommodate.

Since Aug. 1, the NRSC has cut ad buys in the battleground states of Pennsylvania ($7.5 million), Arizona ($3.5 million), Wisconsin ($2.5 million) and Nevada ($1.5 million), according to the ad tracking service AdImpact. Separately, a Democratic source tracking advertising buys estimated roughly $10.5 million in cuts by the NRSC since the first of the month.

“People are asking, ‘What the hell is going on?’” said one Republican strategist working on Senate races. “Why are we cutting in August? I’ve never seen it like this before.”

While the scale of these cuts is unprecedented, the NRSC is also ahead of its typical schedule on its ad spending, having already spent $36.5 million on television spots this cycle, as opposed to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s $1.9 million to date. Sen. Rick Scott, who chairs the NRSC, announced earlier this year the campaign committee would be spending sooner than in years past. It was a necessary change, Scott said, to prevent Democrats from having the airwaves to themselves all summer.

Really? You can never get rid of a Democrat once elected. A Rino is always better than a Democrat, as Manchin proved this month. Committee control is essential and at least Rinos put an “R” on the books when it comes to the rights of the majority.

Been to PA lately?

I live in PA for 50+ years. I have worked campaigns in PA.

Dr Azz is down double-digits in every poll. Mastriano is doing far better because he is a competent campaigner.

I can see why the GOP might be hesitant to pour money down a rat hole created by Dr Azz.

Don’t forget promising to stop giving them what they don’t want; high crime, inflation, energy and food shortages, boys competing with girls in sports, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks.

The GOP believes in and will fight for:

1) Open borders
2) A global open market in labor
3) Offshoring productive industries
4) Financialization of the economy
5)) Severing the medium of exchange function of money from the store of value function.
6) Usury as the main engine of consumption.
7) Denying the people their natural, healthy love of their nation
8) Overseas wars on behalf of alien peoples without recompense for our sacrifice.
9) Forced "diversity" with its attendent decline in standards and inevitably accompanying violence.

The GOP has plenty of principles, convictions, and values. YOU must decide if they are yours, or not.

Wow! They’re throwing in the towel on PA, OH and NC. Why don’t the GOOB candidates just pull out and send any money they have to candidates who are running to win.

No, that is not what the article says.

The GOP is suspending its ad buys in PA, OH & NC but may spend more later in the campaign.

As someone who worked campaigns, I think they want to see the Senate candidates in PA, OH and NC rise in the polls before throwing more money at their campaigns.

You phrasing it as he is “rolling over” positions it as losing or acquiescing or submitting.

This is viewing the situation as if there are two side (R vs D) and he is on the R side.

This couldn’t be further from the truth there are many sides.

He is primarily concerned with protecting himself and his globalist cronies.

This tactical move of trying to lose 2 Ultra MAGA candidates, is a very good way to achieve those ends.

Vance is up by 3 points. Budd is up 3.8.

Are you suggesting that they are waiting until they are 10 points up before they start actually trying to support them?

As matter of fact I may choose to VOTE FOR a Democrat rather than stay home and not vote RINO. Keep it up.

Biden should give an ambassadorship to whoever persuaded Trump to back Oz. What a disaster!
