Ford raised the base price of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck Aug. 9 following the passing of a bill by Senate Democrats that included a $7,500 federal electric vehicle tax credit.
The base model of the 2023 F-150 Lightning pickup will now cost $47,000, up from itβs original price of $40,000, according to CNN. More expensive models, such as the XLT High/Extended Range and the Lariat Extended Range have increased in price by $8,500,

This is like the education credit scam.
If something will not make money when government’s fat thumb isn ‘t on the scale it will ultimately not make money even if government puts its dirty digits where it has no enumerated power to.
$7,500 federal electric vehicle tax credit.
What a farce.
I bought a 2019 Ford Ecosport two years ago which I am paying off $320 a month. Knowing my luck, the SECOND I pay it off they will ban gas powered cars 100% guaranteed.
My guess is they were selling it at a loss. They are probably using the taxpayer money to get it to the break even point.
“The base model of the 2023 F-150 Lightning pickup will now cost $47,000”
The article conveniently doesn’t mention it but the top trim level on one of these is $90,000.
I predict federal EV Loans to make buying EV vehicles more “affordable “. In case you didn’t learn your lesson from your college loans to make it more “affordable”.

So the Inflation Reduction Act has already triggered more inflation. Typical.
Just wow. My first house I bought with a half acre costs less than 40 grand!
But tax credit = free money.
Following the Higher Education model
The more the financial aide government provides the higher the cost rises for the product that is receiving the financial aide.
LOL
Wait a sec...is tax credit like a loop hole ..Munchin was against?
The dealers might be deluged with fools who think they are "getting over" with the $7,500 EV tax credit.
If the vehicles become popular, the dealers will add on a "popularity" premium.
They learned well from the government loans the colleges get.
Then there’s the mortgage deduction. You mean it hasn’t raised the cost of housing? Welfare for the middle class. Why does someone buying a million dollar house really need a million dollar house? Overbuy because of the deduction. Cut it down to $200k houses. Watch the homeless population go away. While you’re at it get rid of ethanol subsidies. They create food riots.
Actually, Ford raised its prices before the subsidy bill was passed.
The legacy costs are staggering. Ford needs to save $30K in legal reserves for every EV they produce. Insurance companies are going to create whole new tables for insurance. It doesn’t take much of an accident to total the vehicle when the battery is part of the chasis.
Yep. You won’t find a single base model anywhere.
