3,151,500 rounds of pistol ammo.
Over 350,000 rounds of shotgun ammo.
Almost 1.5 million rounds of rifle ammo.
In just the last few months, the Internal Revenue Service has bought almost 5,000,000 rounds of small arms ammunition — spending almost $700,000 in the process.
The obvious question is why would a bunch of bean counters who spend their days staring at computer screens need to stock up on millions of rounds of ammo?

That ammo is to threaten us.
Pikers. I got that much in my gun safe.
2023 IRS Budget - $80 billion

Hmmmmm,an interesting question. Thinking...thinking...
Best case is that every federal department and agency was ordered to use part of its budget to purchase ammo, to try and keep it out of the hands of private citizens. Remember even Social Security Admin purchased ammo.
The worst case: the Federal Govt really does have some type of plan to weaponize a domestic army of bureaucrats, drawing from created armed units, against noncompliant citizens.
Neither scenario is worthy of trust or respect.
What’s the big deal? 5 million rounds of ammo for 87,000 new IRS agents only results in 57.47126 rounds per newbie IRS agent. Not nearly enough for proficiency training.
I'm going with zero.
Do “revenuers” still enforce taxes on alcohol and destroy bootlegger’s stills?
Simple...... the ammo was given to the secret police that has no budget and can’t buy it.
The Bush Doctrine- When you know that your enemy is preparing to attack you, you have every right to attack first. You are under no moral obligation to wait for them to attack first.
That ammo is to threaten us.

You buy guns to threaten, you buy ammo to use the guns.
Exactly. And remember the IRS can come into your home sans warrant.
How certain is any one that the ammo purchases are only common pistol and rifle ammo?
For instance: .50, 20mm, 30mm rounds are also considered ammo. Does that rule out ammo for drones, tanks, AFVs, A-10s, AC-130Js?
I’m going g with Bert on this one. Add the new state district of Capitol police going into effect as well....
IRS had 3.1 million rounds of ammunition for pistols and revolvers. The tax agency had 1.4 million rounds of ammunition for rifles, the GAO report said, along with 367,750 shotgun rounds and 56,000 rounds for automatic weapons.
79 of the 459 special agents in the agency’s long gun cadre failed to meet standard qualification requirements. Further, the report says the IRS could not provide information about whether 1,500 special agents were trained in tactical equipment proficiency.
This whole situation is meant to frighten us. Inadequate firearms proficiency is a frightening thought. Remember when TSA job positions were advertised on pizza boxes?
Why would unelected bureaucrats build and equip an army?
After the Republicans take over IRS, taxpayers will have an additional lines added to their 10-40.
