Ever-growing exodus figures show 2,465 police officers have filed to leave the department this year — 42% more than the 1,731 who exited at the same time last year, according to the latest pension fund stats obtained by The Post.
More disturbing is the fact that the number of cops hanging up their holsters early — before reaching 20 years for a full pension — has skyrocketed 71% this year from the year before (1,098 from 641).
NYPD Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch said the so-called “voluntary quits” are driving the “stampede” — and not a big academy class that graduated in 2022, as claimed last month by Chief of Department Kenneth Corey.

I know a guy who turned his NYPD badge in in 2017. He’s working in rural Pennsylvania, has a nice piece of land and is happy as a clam.

A neighboring county had a large shortage of school bus drivers so they upped what they were paying & made it attractive enough that some officers quit the city police force & became bus drivers. Similar pay, a lot less stress, and no ‘woke’ mayor who hates police & is destroying the city.
After all that has transpired in the last five years, you’d have to be insane to be a cop. And unfortunately, probably a lot of ones who shouldn’t be cops are the ones going to be left.
You can’t collect it if you’re dead.
If Deep State can't defund the police, it will damn well ensure that they're yes men.
Adams has done what seemed to be impossible. He has actually shown himself to be a worse mayor and more determined America hater than di Blasio. That is going a ways.
The replacements will haunt the city for decades to come, affirmative action, criminal types, and even worse exploitation of the pension and disability system, less productive people, more lawsuits from citizens, worse care of equipment, just more 3rd world stuff in general than the ones just leaving.

The fact that so many members of the NYPD are leaving, tells me that the 20 years Mayor Eric Adams spent working in uniform for the NYPD, he apparently did not inspire trust or loyalty among his peers or subordinates. If he’d been an officer and supervisor that supported, and backed his fellow officers, the same people who are planning to leave, would instead be willing to stay in the job to support him. That obviously isn’t the case here.

I'd rather New York City become a penal colony like in "Escape New York." That will never happen, because delusional Democrats will always be in charge of the city's politics, and will never admit there is a severe crime problem there.
