A NYC school diploma isn’t worth the paper it’s written on

Potemkin villages” refer to the magnificent facades that Crimean governor Grigory Potemkin supposedly built in front of decrepit villages to impress Catherine the Great on her grand tour of the region. Today, there’s no better term than “Potemkin schools” to describe how educrats run public education in New York City.

...

teachers at William Cullen Bryant High School in Queens complained that administrators forced them to pass failing students. Last year, a long-stalled investigation revealed that Maspeth High School in Queens repeatedly faked passing grades. In 2020, at Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill High School where more than 70% of the students were failing, the principal was secretly recorded instructing teachers to just pass kids. This happens not just at isolated failing schools; data on middle schools show widespread grade fraud in New York City public schools, and the worst often occur in predominantly black communities.

One such school is the Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem, where in 8th grade, 95% of students failed Math proficiency according to New York State standardized testing, but the school passed 93.9% of them in that subject. ..

...

At Harlem’s Eagle Academy for Young Men, nearly 94% of 8th grade students passed math, even though 95% of the grade failed standardized math testing.

We need standardized testing, attacked by Potemkin school defenders, because it so indisputably exposes their academic dumbing-down. We need school choice, so families can vote with their feet as educrats continue to lie while robbing their children of an education.

But the status quo of Potemkin schools is protected by teachers’ unions, which don’t give one whit that a transcript full of A’s is a lie.

...

It’s no secret that teachers unions get their way because of their stranglehold over the Democrat Party.

When I went to High School in Queens, I was in the Cooperative Education Program. For two years till graduation, I attended alternating weeks of school and work. My friends and I did that for party money. Those were great times.

Why no outcry from the black community? Because they don't care about earning their own keep. Just let the government give them whatever they want; what they don't get, they'll steal.

Meanwhile, we're inundated with TV commercials that show successful middle class blacks with smart high-paying careers. As if these commercials will guarantee other blacks failing in schools will obtain such lofty positions in society. Won't happen. Blacks need to make changes in black culture, and get out of ghetto thinking.

That is criminal. I think the teachers unions should be disbanded.

They simply can’t pass those tests due to their genetics, no matter how hard they try. This part of our civilization ( education) is not ready yet for them at this point.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

The NY gooberment reports that 93.9% pass math; actually 95% failed.

Expect the government schools to demand that their funding be increased and that teachers’ salaries be ratcheted up.

It’s so predictable.

But one person voting for one Dem = one promise of minority entitlements increasing.

Except in real life the Dems forget all about their minority people again until the next election day.

Their neighborhoods are not improved and their children are not safe from drive-by shootings of hotheads who should be in jail. And elderly black ladies are still afraid of being followed going to the store or pharmacy as are women who want to buy groceries and get gas. But they'll still vote Dem again and again.

Democrats once forbid the slaves from learning to read and write. And white people were forbidden from teaching them.

After slavery was abolished, Democrats placed black people in segregated schools. Weren’t allowed to go to school with white kids. And the black schools got the short end of the stick when it came to funding and resources.

Then the Democrats weren’t allowed to segregate the students anymore.

So, not able to forbid blacks from learning how to read and write. Not allowed to segregate the students anymore, now the Democrats simply dumb the black kids down, refuse to properly educate them, and pass them even though they can’t read or write or do math.

I sense a pattern by democrats here.

Proof that math is racist.
