DALLAS – Former President Donald Trump convincingly won the 2024 GOP presidential nomination straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) three-day gathering in Texas
Trump, who’s repeatedly teased making another presidential run in 2024 to try and return to the White House, captured 69% of ballots cast in the anonymous online straw poll, according to results announced by CPAC on Saturday.
The support for the former president, who remains the most popular and influential politician in the Republican Party and continues to play a kingmaker's role in GOP primaries, is up from his 59% showing in the anonymous online straw poll at the CPAC gathering in Orlando, Florida in February.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in second on the 2024 presidential nomination question, at 24%, down from his 28% showing at CPAC in Orlando five months ago.

I’ve noticed he has tone down his rhetoric and insults. These are speeches meant for candidates that are running for something. He is catering to the women vote. And he continues to hit it out of the ballpark! He is already morphing into something more softer and kinder....Sort of like a father figure! I LIKE IT!!

I liked it. Talking’ bout Adam Schiff pointing the finger at his son. Moms can understand that. If he’s back in the WH I’d cream my pants to see him slap the weasel on camera. He’d be immune because we all would have his back.
He is learning. Less bombast, smoothing hard edges, but maintaining the message, it make him harder to attack because he appears likable.

He said my child my son and that hit me right straight in the heart as a mother and a parent. Attack my child and mama bear is gonna come after you. So when he talked about his son he just broke my heart the way the media and the bastards evil people in DC have treated him. He needs more of that. Talk directly to the mothers we understand when someone attacks our children. He would immediately win those hearts!
Rose, I sure hope you’re right. Most of my daily dealings are with White Suburban Women who I was almost got to look at the real Donald Trump but they perceived him as mean and especially with Covid anti science.
Good! I hope he tailors his speech more towards the saner majority of his voters this time. He can win!
