Three of the 10 Republican lawmakers who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump were up for reelection in Tuesday's primaries, with one losing his bid to a Trump-backed candidate and the other two appearing to hold leads in their races, which have not yet been called.
In Michigan's 3rd Congressional District, covering Grand Rapids, freshman Rep. Peter Meijer lost narrowly to Trump-backed opponent John Gibbs, who had served in the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department under the former president.
Trump had vowed to push out of office this primary season the lawmakers who voted to impeach him for a second time.
Meanwhile, in Washington state, the races have not yet been called for the House seats held by two other impeachment voters, Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse. However, unlike Meijer, both are in place to advance to the general election, reports The Wall Street Journal.
In Washington's primary elections, the candidates from all parties are placed on a single ballot for each House race, with the top two finishers advancing to the November election. Neither Newsmax's election partner, Decision Desk HQ, nor The Associated Press have called the elections in those races.
Newhouse, a four-term congressman, faced seven challengers for the 4th Congressional District seat, including six Republicans of which one, Loren Culp, is a former small-town police chief who had refused to concede the governor's race in 2020 and got Trump's backing in the primary election.

I’m going to write in the names Joe Kent and Loren Culp just so the RINO’s Beutler and Newhouse know that I refused to support losers who refused to support us.
I can see why Newhouse survived. A 4 term incumbent against SEVEN others. On name recognition alone he’s going to win.
Wonder new... the people have spoken!
Trump can endorse people and have influence over them if they win, but the GOP/RNC have the real leverage over them. They control the money flows for campaigns, committee assignments, and a host of other incentives to get them to do the bidding of the GOPe.
In other words, while Trump can get people elected its the party that will own them.
In two years we can go after those two again.
In the meantime, the leaderships of the House and Senate are
on the line. We absolutely have to have that leadership
back to save this nation.
If we get it back, we set up the committees and prevent the
runaway attempts at impeachment or SCOTUS packing.
Please don’t do what we all feel like doing, and let the
Democrat win out of spite.
Yes, these folks will vote against us once in a while, but
if those committees and chances at subterfuge remain, our
nation will be seriously injured in the next two years.
Please vote for those two. I guarantee you, I don’t like
it any better
than you do.
There’s so much animosity at the leadership, I’m not sure
that’s going to play as big a roll as it did in the past.
These guys are running against the incumbent for a reason.
They aren’t going to forget that.
This what we have to do. Let’s hope you’re wrong.
Kent is going to win. He was down 5% on election night. Now he’s only down 1.3% with 77% reporting.
Such blatant voter fraud and shennanigans when we still are waiting on results from Tuesday. Shame on these evil Democrats running our voting booths.
Keep pulling those Weeds out of the GOP Garden!
Trump and his supporters = Round Up HERBICIDE.
Let’s hope you’re wrong.

I hope I am too. But based on what I know about the Swamp I have to call it as I see it. Regardless of what we think/feel, the GOPe has enormous influence over its people and it has decades of experience in flipping newly elected representatives. Trust me, they are very good at doing that. And quite frankly, its not all that hard to do. Once people get to DC it isn’t long before they contract Potomac Fever and easily bend to the ways of the Swamp.
I really wish Trump had started a new party. That would have given us a fighting chance and I believe it would have completed destroyed/replaced the GOP. People crave a party stands for something and is willing to fight for it.
Your post makes no sense whatsoever.
The the commie RATS in the National commie RAT “media” would say, Gibbs is “far right”. I’m not “far right”. I identify myself as being “always right.”
What Newsmax (this article) deliberately ignored is that of the 10 republican traitors who voted to impeach, all 10 were up for re-election in 2022, but 7 retired out (er, chickened out) to Washington’s infinite geen fields of cash and TV appearances. They did not even try to face their voters.
Newsmax had sucked since November 2020.
One of the most famous last names in western Michigan is Meijer. His family owns the Meijer chain of superstores.
100% name recognition.
This used to be the norm, but with the advent of tooth, blood and nail politics it is often not the case.
the Trump haters in the Republican Party would rather have a Democrat in office than support a Trump man.
New parties aren’t easy to start up. You have to get approved
by each state as a new party. Buchanan tried it in 2000, and
it was a major pain in the arse.
It’s not quite as easy as it would seem. There are certain
requirements based on your prior election prior activity. I forget
the process now, but it wasn’t easy.
These people will be answering to their constituents in
another two years. They just saw how easy it is to get
primaried.
Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse. However, unlike Meijer, both are in place to advance to the general election, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Hmm, better check your numbers again. Jaime Herrera Beutler looks to be on track to lose the primary. One more pro impeachment RINO thrown out.
Have you noticed the emergence of the new Forward Party that is targeting disaffected moderates? It is seeking to have ballot access in all 50 states by 2024.
I have no idea how successful it will be but it intends to provide an alternative to the two existing parties. Time will tell.
My problem with the GOP is that I don’t ever see it changing. The culture, the party’s DNA, its history, sources of money, etc. are pretty much set in stone IMO.
Regan tried to change the party. So did Trump in his first term. Neither succeeded to change its direction. I want to vote for a party that stands for something and has foundational principles. I’m tired of being disappointed and stabbed in the back by the never ending flow of RINOs in the GOP. And I don’t think I’m alone.
Nice catch.
