WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court ruling expanding gun rights threatens to upend firearms restrictions across the country as activists wage court battles over everything from bans on AR-15-style guns to age limits.
The decision handed down in June already has led one judge to temporarily block a Colorado town from enforcing a ban on the sale and possession of certain semi-automatic weapons.
The first major gun decision in more than a decade, the ruling could dramatically reshape gun laws in the U.S. even as a series of horrific mass shootings pushes the issue back into the headlines.
“The gun rights movement has been given a weapon of mass destruction, and it will annihilate approximately 75% of the gun laws eventually,” said Evan Nappen, a New Jersey gun rights attorney.
The court battles come as the Biden administration and police departments across the U.S. struggle to combat a surge in violent crime and mass shootings, including several high-profile killings carried out by suspects who purchased their guns legally.
And given the sheer number of cases now working through the courts, a lot more time will be spent in courtrooms no matter who wins.
“We will see a lot of tax dollars and government resources that should be used to stop gun crime being used to defend gun laws that are lifesaving and wildly popular,” said Jonathan Lowry, chief counsel and vice president at Brady, the gun control group.

“The court battles come as the Biden administration and police departments across the U.S. struggle to combat a surge in violent crime and mass shootings..”
This sort of violence is taking place where guns are either banned or severely restricted. No bias there, eh Ass Press?
The smell of freedom is in the air.
Actually, long BEFORE the Supreme Court ruling, it was open season on US gun laws. The Second Amendment was in place even as the Constitution was ratified and made the law of the land. “Shall not be infringed” means there’s no law against the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
Parts of The Big Lie right here: “a lot of tax dollars and government resources that should be used to stop gun crime being used to defend gun laws that are lifesaving and wildly popular...”
“stop gun crime” ... to paraphrase Al Gore, sorta ‘There’s no evidence to suggest this is true’ in fact the opposite is true.
“laws that are lifesaving” Ibid.
“laws that are ... wildly popular” only within a restricted set of the general population (useful idiots) and broadly among Progressive politicians.
They hate “us” and they want us gone “by any means necessary” and disarming ‘us’ is just one step in their “reset.”
They didn’t ‘expand’ on anything.
The eliminated unconstitutional limitations.
It's always been here...It's called the Constitution. It's just been ignored.
“We will see a lot of tax dollars and government resources that should be used to stop gun crime being used to defend gun laws that are lifesaving and wildly popular,”
Wildly popular with criminals and tyrants, who prefer unarmed victims!
Is he the puffier twin of Anthony Weiner?
No effort to stop crime but ever effort to stop us from defending ourselves from the crime you encourage and support. We are a danger to them and their want for control over us
Firstly, the SCOTUS ruling did not “expand” gun rights. It merely recognized gun rights that had always existed since the constitution was ratified but which had been getting trampled on by various states for years - over a century in New York’s case.
The first time SCOTUS actually showed the spine to rule on a 2nd amendment case in over a decade, the ruling could strike down infringements on American’s 2nd amendment rights across the US - which is quite timely given that police have been defunded and soft on crime DA’s elected in several cities and thus violent crime rates are correspondingly sharply rising in those cities.
The civil rights movement has been given the tool it needs to ensure that Americans’ constitutional rights are actually respected for a change in many of these jurisdictions. Approximately 75% of gun laws will be struck down as unconstitutional, said Evan Nappen, a New Jersey gun rights attorney.
The court battles come as Leftist soft on crime DA’s and defunded police departments across the U.S. struggle to combat a surge in violent crime even as private citizens who were legally armed, have stopped several mass shootings.
The sheer number of laws infringing on Americans’ constitutional rights have spawned numerous cases now working through the courts. A lot more time will be spent in courtrooms no matter who wins.
We will see a lot of tax dollars and government resources that should be used to stop crime being used instead to defend unconstitutional gun grabs that endanger citizens.
-I rewrote the article for them to make it honest.
The Supreme Court could have saved a lot of time and court costs if they had been more unequivocal.
The communist states restrictions are all unconstitutional.

The gun grab is on in NYS; a licensed gun holder is likely to have his gun seized and license revoked if involved in a domestic incident, neighbor dispute or an argument with someone.
And the road to freedom is paved with brass.
Interesting how most of the mass shootings have been in blue states with restrictive gun laws.
Not sure how the Supreme Court could “expand” rights that are absolute and “shall not be infringed.”
