The pro-life movement suffered a defeat in Kansas on Tuesday when the state overwhelmingly voted to uphold abortion “rights.”
The vote in Kansas on Tuesday centered on whether or not the state would remove abortion rights protections in the State Constitution, potentially paving the way for “state lawmakers to pass far-reaching abortion restrictions, or even to pursue a ban,” according to the New York Times.
With 76 percent reporting, the “No” votes to keep abortion rights in place beat the “Yes” votes by double digits – 62.2 percent versus 37.7 percent as of this writing. Both NBC News and the New York Times have projected “No” as the referendum winner.
Abortion activists and Democrat lawmakers celebrated the victory.
“This is huge: abortion rights were on the ballot for the first time since Roe, and the people of Kansas voted to preserve access,” tweeted Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “I’m grateful down to my toes for everyone who helped stop this dangerous ballot measure in its tracks.”

Well, Kansas finally has something that will attract tourism. Abortion clinics will pop up everywhere.

There are so many baby murderers in this country.
Even ruby-red states don't want to ban all abortion, nor do people in deep blue states want women aborting at eight months when there's no health reason needed for the mother to do so.
The people are pretty consistent on this, even if pandering politicians on both sides are not. At least it's rightfully a state issue and not a one-size-fits-all federal thing now.

I hate to say it but this country and values are done. If a state like Kansas lost by 2:1 this is the direction the country is headed. Their decades of propaganda has worked…

I’m wondering if the single issue among all primaries was a case of strategic targeting on the issue. Democrats have shown that targeted campaigns, and even strategic cheating, does win dividends.
Not that I think cheating was part of this, just wondering what the engagement rate was during a primary.

A lot of people like the idea of safe, legal, and RARE, as opposed to “on-demand/substitute for birth control”.
I am split myself on this, in that I understand why rape/incest/real health risk might justify taking a life EARLY. The morality troubles me though. There may be authentic reasons, and local voters should debate and decide the limits. Keep it rare.
Your opinions are your own, as are mine. REM: I doubt God blesses abortion under any circumstances, but that’s my debate.
It’s a state issue and it always should have been a state issue. I don’t think a majority of states want politicians to decide for them and this vote demonstrated that people don’t trust politicians.
