The pro-life movement suffered a defeat in Kansas on Tuesday when the state overwhelmingly voted to uphold abortion “rights.”
The vote in Kansas on Tuesday centered on whether or not the state would remove abortion rights protections in the State Constitution, potentially paving the way for “state lawmakers to pass far-reaching abortion restrictions, or even to pursue a ban,” according to the New York Times.
With 76 percent reporting, the “No” votes to keep abortion rights in place beat the “Yes” votes by double digits – 62.2 percent versus 37.7 percent as of this writing. Both NBC News and the New York Times have projected “No” as the referendum winner.
Abortion activists and Democrat lawmakers celebrated the victory.
“This is huge: abortion rights were on the ballot for the first time since Roe, and the people of Kansas voted to preserve access,” tweeted Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “I’m grateful down to my toes for everyone who helped stop this dangerous ballot measure in its tracks.”

Mainly because the GOPe WANTS to lose in November.
Then they can blame it on Trump.
I never understood why homosexuals wanted abortions other than to hate on others.
Wonder if the wording of the referendum had anything to do with voters interpretation when they voted. Many say it did.
There’s a lot of homos in the womans movement.
Who never have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy.
Those chicks are kinda rough.
It’s pointless because they are all going to legalize it anyways and we’re going to pay a hefty political price! This was a major own-goal by our side this year!
That’s just an after-the-fact rationalization for the loss. It was titled the Value Them Both Amendment because who could be against valuing them both? You don’t have to read past the first sentence of the explanatory statement to know what voting in favor of the amendment would do. And the fact that many more Kansans voted on the amendment than on the primary races indicates that they came to the polls just for this purpose. It is unlikely that they were confused about whether they should vote yes or no once they got into the polling booth.
I have nothing but utter contempt for the college generation...spit.
Could be an interesting ‘tornado season’ in Kansas next spring/early summer.
Abortion was legal in Kansas at least since 1970. Apparently it is currently restricted to before 20 weeks.
How many “ballots” were received from California?
Just do like the left. Try again next election cycle. and the next. and the next.
Are the election-shifters going to use this issue as a tolerable excuse to pump more “absenteed” ballot-faskes into the counting scanners? Thus ballooning never-trumper and leftist contenders into the slots?
Yes, but this is the way the Constitution properly says; the state decides.
Morality more concerns values and principles regarding what behaviors and attitudes are good and bad.
Rules are more what law is concerned with, i.e. this or that action with such and such intent in the following situation is punishable by fines and incarceration.
Communities with specific moral beliefs are “intersecting” in the sense that multiple differing communities live together and interact with one another within the same legal jurisdiction. This is a major reason why the legal rules do not reflect the moral beliefs of all the persons in a governmental jurisdiction.
It’s a womans feminista thing that runs their shows, protests etc. It’s about what they’ve preached for years ‘Power’.......and we just saw one of the leading feminista’s, Nancy Pelosi, strut hers around in Taiwan - complete with her name up in lights.
Pelosi will always see herself as President of Congress and operating as a seperate leader/Pres. of the USA.....remember when Hillary was trying to break the glass ceiling? Well Pelosi said at that time that she was the first woman to break the glass ceiling and the most powerful woman in Washington. So she wasn’t going to let Hillary take her thunder either.
I don’t think citizens shoukd be voting on a “right to murder” an unborn human being. It should,be universally illegal to murder a child that isn’t born yet. If a criminal can be charged with killing a woman’s unborn child (which he shoukd,be) then a we Oman should be charged with killing her unborn child as well)
“... legal rules do not reflect the moral beliefs of all the persons in a governmental jurisdiction.”
Indeed, and for that reason I like to see individual states make their own laws that intrude on controversial moral beliefs.
If you don’t like a law in the state you’re living in, there are other states you can move to or whatever.
There was a huge amount of misrepresentation on the pro-death side and the low info voters in KS, of which there is a surprisingly huge amount of, bit into it hook line and sinker. God almighty, how I miss living in Missouri at times.
