According to the largest study of its type, brain scans of individuals obtained as they engaged in different activities or even did nothing accurately indicated whether they were politically conservative or liberal. .... snip...

Let me guess … conservatives have a brain and leftists don’t.

the study mentioned in the article is pretty worthless. Holes you can drive a truck through.

Not that useful. Brain scans as a predictor, when you could just ask a few questions and avoid the scan altogether. Could be useful I guess to sniff out RINOs that say one thing during a campaign and vote differently.

What you’re exposed to in life, especially early life, determines what you’ll think and do. IOW, the brain accepts and adopts and adapts to the environment, especially when the environment is that of the parents and schools of choice, and also, indoctrination and brainwashing.

The brain can be taught different things, and it can take a long time to deprogram early life learning.

People can lose their liberal ways and become conservatives, and it can also go the other way.

To conclude, the study above is worthless.

Of course there are biological differences. We have known it for years, and it has been mapped out by Science:

I think we already knew that a liberal’s brain functions different that a conservatives.

A study (n = 174, age range: 18 to 40, mean = 21.43) finds intrinsic activation of brain regions reflect differences in ideology. They looked at the neurological roots of politics using whole-brain analysis of functional connectivity (FC) across common fMRI tasks (PNAS Nexus. 2022;May 23 DOI: 10.1093/pnasnexus/pgac066). They found that liberals and conservatives have noticeable and discriminative differences in FC that can be identified with high accuracy. FC signatures from retrieval, empathy, and monetary reward tasks are identified as important and powerful predictors of conservatism, and activations of the amygdala, inferior frontal gyrus, and hippocampus are most strongly associated with political affiliation. They found that political liberalism is associated with tighter communication between the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (AGC)—responsible for emotional processing—and the right insula—responsible for conflict monitoring.

A study looked that psychological resilience and self-regulation as they pertain to “red” or “blue” brains, finding that conservatives tend to be more resilient and have better self-control (Sci Rep. 2020;10(1):1–10).

By the way, I thought that about Liberalism for a long time, that it was a mental disorder, but over the years, I have come to distinguish between Liberals and Leftists.

I view Liberals as a spectrum of people ranging from lazy and ignorant but well meaning, right up to the doorway to Leftism. Often, one can still talk to Liberals, their minds can be changed, and they can even make the transition from Liberal to Conservative on their own. It happens a lot when people get life experience.

Heck, we have people on this site who made that transition.

Leftists, however, I do see as mentally deranged, and often dangerously so. This doesn’t apply to those all the way to the Left, because they know their pap is all BS. It is all about power and control to them. But the spittle-lipped, bulge-eyed, cannon fodder Leftists, they have so much cognitive dissonance floating around inside their empty brains that I do believe they are dangerous.

They are the ones doing the mass shootings, burning, looting, and murdering. They cannot be approached.

Complete bullshit. Does a person change brains when they change their political views?
