Next year Leonid Nevzlin will mark 20 years since his escape from Russia and immigration to Israel. When he fled Russia in 2003, Yukos, the oil giant at which he served as vice president, was forcibly broken up and Nevzlin’s associates were arrested and thrown into Siberian prisons on what many claim were trumped-up and politically motivated charges of fraud, embezzlement and money laundering.

Meanwhile, the Russian government demanded that Israel extradite Nevzlin, whom it accused of murder, several counts of conspiracy to commit murder and financial crimes. Israel has repeatedly refused.

Nevzlin has long been a vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose government was behind the arrests and dismantling of Yukos. Earlier this year, he publicly renounced his Russian citizenship in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

They fomented a "color revolution"/proxy coup in 2014 and spawned a civil war. Then they sided with the neo-Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists who sought to exterminate the ethnic Russian population. They encouraged Ukraine to ignore the Minsk Agreement it had signed that would have brought peace to the region.

They armed Ukraine with offensive weapons, teased NATO membership for it and were running bioweapons labs in Ukraine that would have been illegal in the US.

When Russia finally responded ot all that, they claimed Russian invaded Ukraine to steal territory.

I have no idea if Putin is mortally ill; though he does appear to have some medical condition.

And I agree with you that the Dems are going to give Biden the hook and pull him off stage. I think they are willing to risk having Harris at the helm, at least for the time being.

The country will continue to suffer, but that means nothing to the Dems; all they care about is power, and holding on to it.

We’ll never know that at this point.

But the way we COULD have found out was by taking up his peace offers before and early into the war.

Given that Neocons prevented that outcome, one can reasonably ask whether it was the Neocons who wanted to see Ukraine destroyed (or at least didn’t mind either way), you know, to ‘Weaken Russia’ (to quote Austin).

Ukraine has the one of the most expensive, most important pipelines in world history . It provides Russia with almost the entirety of its domestic production and its the key to the survivability of Russia.

Why on earth would they want it destroyed m the nuclear power, the infrastructure, the one Russian people?

How can I get it through EVERY SINGLE FREEPERS HEAD that not a single article or opinion on the war there is to be trusted?

Nevzlin could indeed be guilty of tax evasion and may also have had people killed. Putin’s a criminal, but so are most of the oligarchs.

Do you believe Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who said Moscow’s overarching goal in Ukraine is to free its people from its “unacceptable regime"?

“We are determined to help the people of eastern Ukraine to liberate themselves from the burden of this absolutely unacceptable regime,” Lavrov said at an Arab League summit in Cairo late Sunday, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy’s government.

Apparently suggesting that Moscow’s war aims extend beyond Ukraine’s industrial Donbas region in the east, Lavrov said: “We will certainly help the Ukrainian people to get rid of the regime, which is absolutely anti-people and anti-historical.”

Well I’d say after eight years of Russians making war on Ukraine and killing Ukrainians the Ukrainians have a pretty good case for exterminating the rest of the Russians on their territory.

Those people who are ethnic Russians who wish to become Ukrainian should do so. The ones who want to colonize Ukraine on behalf of Putin and Imperial Russia should go to Russia. But at this point it is absolutely clear that they are hostile enemy aliens not just in Ukraine but in any country where Russians live and hold Russian passports.

It is inarguable that these people are the vanguard of and pretext for an invasion.
