The Indian Navy on Thursday (July 28) took delivery of IAC-1, the nation’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier from its manufacturer, Cochin Shipyard Ltd. The carrier, which after commissioning will be called ‘Vikrant’, has been handed over to the Navy ahead of schedule. The commissioning is likely to take place on Independence Day.
The aircraft carrier, which successfully completed its fourth and final phase of sea trials three weeks ago, puts India in an elite club of nations that have the capability to design and build these giant, powerful warships. “A momentous day in the Indian Maritime History & indigenous shipbuilding coinciding with #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav,” the Indian Navy spokesperson posted on Twitter.

That just shows how much the Indians have to learn. You don't do that in a country with a sophisticated MIC.
I wanted to read more..but I am all out of rupees.
The two machines I love the best are the articulated steam locomotive and the US CATOBAR Aircraft carrier.
I will miss the carriers when they are gone.
The Indians are thinking they’re maybe going to have to use it against the Chinese. They currently have a hot border conflict with the Chinese, and the Chinese are looking for someone, anyone, to provide a convenient adversary and scapegoat.
India has to be prepared to fight a two-front war, jihadis via Pakistan and the Arabian Sea, and Chicoms via Myanmar and the Bay of Bengal. My impression is that the Indian Army is decent but the Navy needs to be greatly enhanced to stand as a counterforce to both sides of the subcontinent.
India on our side would expand America’s global strength, which is why the Bidenbots will do everything to ensure it does not happen.
Essential things:
1) Got to have an engine and stabilizers that can handle it, or it will be lucky to make it through the year.
2) Top notch damage control is essential.
3) Crew training is essential as is replacement crew training. Everything is OJT.
China Biden left $80,000,000,000 of US military equipment in Afghanistan to be given to Pakistan to help China in their fight against India.
Most essential is a missile defense system. Carriers are slow and expensive targets. Putting all your eggs in that one basket and have it sunk by a cheap missile is just piss poor me-too planning.
What aircraft will the Indian Navy use aboard this carrier?
Those are actually both very good choices for best machines.
Look at the graphic for info.
I will never understand why we allied with backstabbing Pakistan and not India. It never made any strategic sense.
Typical. Have received massive amount of Soviet weaponry over the decades, so they build a Soviet style jump jet carrier. Let me guess, it oil based propulsion.
Looks smallish to me.
MiG 30 MKI. They’ve had them for a while.

It also turned over control of the Wakhan corridor in Badakhshan to the pro-Pakistan/China Taliban — allowing them to cut off India’s land routes to Europe or Caspian Basin energy supplies.
Meant Sukhoi 30 MKI
Back in the 2000s there was an aircraft carrier for sale on eBay. Many here on FR wanted to buy it and let this website have it’s own force projection capabilities. :)
