LOL, I remember Dennis Miller's remark, "German reunification I view this in much the same way I view a possible Dean Martin - Jerry Lewis reconciliation. I never really enjoyed their work, and I'm not sure I need to see any of their new stuff."
I mostly don’t go to bars, and rarely drink alcohol. And IIRC, Trump doesn’t drink. But I could always imagine sitting with him in a bar atmosphere place, and just chatting about what is wrong and right with the USA. I always felt that he had some connection, in his soul, to “common” people.
MANY MILLIONS OF US WILL vote for Trump-—even if it is a write in.
Well, they don't call him "the redneck billionaire" for no reason.
That's pretty terrifying, because if Trump can't even hold the votes of people like them...he's just not going to win in 2024. And I know a lot of true Trumpers believe their passion will be enough, but it just isn't.
TRUMP: HE is a leader.
LEAD——FOLLOW-—or GET THE HELL OUT OF WAY works for me.
Trump’s list about Low IQ is lacking many other people in Congress.
Yes. I know people have strong views around here. Just decided that I’d better acknowledge those I agree with, if I want them to persevere. And, as your Army story demonstrates, being true to yourself can work out well.
If Trump runs and wins in 2024, there will be an opportunity to reclaim the USA from the enemy. But does Donald Trump have the courage to do what needs to be done? That’s the big question in my mind. If he doesn’t, the USA is toast. Here’s the scenario where the USA can be saved:
1) Trump wins and the left begins to riot throughout the USA, similar to what we was in the summer of 2020, with Antifa and BLM leading the way.
2) Rather than let it happen as Trump did before, the President would need to follow in the footsteps of President Lincoln at the beginning of the Civil war in 1861 and declare martial law to restore order. Along with martial law, he would need to suspend habeous corpus, which would allow him to gather up the poisonous snakes who have been destroying our nations: The Democrats, the Marxist educators, the FBI, NSA and CIA snakes, the marxist military leaders, the school boards, the media propagandists, all would need to be imprisoned and tried under military tribunals and appropriate penalties inflicted which would neutralize them from inflicting further harm upon the nation.
3) The president would have 4 years to purge the nation of its internal traitors and then lift martial law as soon as the job is done but no later than the 2026 or certainly the 2028 elections.
If we would not support this course, we would be simply postponing the inevitable end of the United States as a free nation. May the Lord help us and protect President Trump and all of us, for without courage and determination, the end of our nation as a free republic is in sight, as anyone without blinders covering their eyes can see.
I have said more than once over the last 7 years, “I don’t care about his personality as I’m not going to date him, marry him or sleep with him. I want a leader, with balls like a brass monkey, and a businessman with leadership abilities.” That and more we had with Trump, and we need him or someone like him back now! I’m not sure it should be Donald himself as they’ll kill him.
Trump turned out to be great.
Put aside anything else.
Look what he did.
Energy independence is number one.
That’s number one why they hate him so much.
Manufacturing returning is another.
Foreign policy with a spine, no appeasement is another.
Economy was booming.
>> ‘learning curve’
Regrettably, apathy has taken root in my soul, and their are few that I now care about.
* there are
We're at the point where this country needs to take its medicine, more like the gallon of stuff we drink before a colonoscopy.
It's starting with our military. How many millions of veterans are telling our youth, "stay the hell out of the military"? It's not just this year, they're going to have a helluva time meeting their recruiting quotas for years to come.
For me, it all boils down to leadership and the chain of command. As a Platoon Leader, about six months out of college, it was drilled into me that everything my unit did, or failed to do, was my responsibility alone. At first, it seemed daunting, but I soon became a PITA saying, "ok, I get it. If my neck is on the line as you say it is, then get out of my way and let me do my job."
I knew that my senior leaders had my back, even if my Battery/Battalion Commander didn't. I had a few experiences that proved it to me.
Now we see no one taking responsibility for a damn thing, starting with the Commander in Chief. Thoroughly Modern Milley, and a few other generals, should have been relieved over Afghanistan. Instead, they received another Legion of Merit, or Meritorious Service Medal to join their chest of unearned commendations that spill over the left side of their uniforms.
There was only one officer who publicly resigned his commission over these leadership failures...he should have been saluted. Instead, he was raked over the coals by the MSM.
For me, there's no gray areas when it comes to the Chain of Command. For example, I would have relieved the entire chain of command for that NG soldier drowning in the Rio Grande a few months ago. There were no rules of engagement, to go with no flotation devices available to issue to the soldiers. Anyone with a lick of sense knows you don't go into a fast moving river without that vest on.
When I had to form a reserve force to support a nearby Nike Hercules battery, we had 4 hours to get there. I took that time to train my soldiers in small unit infantry tactics, which they hadn't seen since Basic Training. I wasn't going to send them into a secure area, with live ammo issued to them, until I was satisfied they knew what they were doing.
We also conducted these exercises under the watchful eyes of locals from nearby towns, and members of the Baader-Meinhof gang. We were fortunate: in those six deployments, no one was injured, no rounds were fired by accident...everyone came home alive, lol.
There is no way in hell I'm going to recommend to a young person that the military is an honorable place to serve. The Sam Damons of the military have been run off by the Courtney Massengales we see at the Pentagon today. For reference, see "Once an Eagle" by Anton Myrer, a novel still part of the Army War College curriculum.
Until the military gets back to preparing for war as their first priority, we're in deep trouble. The military has been the guarantor of our rights for nearly 250 years, and I have grave doubts they can do it today.
In my own small way, I know what leadership is, and I lived it as a Platoon Leader (3 times), Executive Officer, and Battery Commander, as well as staff positions. My soldiers knew I had their backs, and they stuck with me through the good and bad.
When my Battery Commander went catatonic during a major evaluation, I filled the void by telling the Platoon Leaders EXACTLY what their squads would do the next/final day. They didn't listen to me because of my position. They listened to me because I had taken all but one of their platoons through evaluations, and the implied authority that came with it.
LOL, as I left the CP, I bumped into the Evaluation Team Chief..."you heard everything, didn't you, sir?" His response: "Yes I did LT, and it was beautiful!"
I probably would have never made it to First LT in today's Army.
That Dennis Miller...he’s a meanie.
“Trump’s character…. being deeply flawed..”
I’m sorry - I refuse to accept this premise until the same standard is applied to those on Left - who by contrast, make Trump look like a saint.
During the 1980 election, my German neighbors were pleading with me to vote for Carter. They were sure that Reagan would start WW3.
At the neighborhood restaurant (gasthaus), I advocated for Reagan 2-3 times a week. I knew him, he was my governor for 8 years, he had written hundreds of columns. My theme was that when America is strong, the world is a safer place. Fortunately, I spoke German well by then, and was able to communicate my points to them in German.
42 years later, it's still true: the world is safer place when America is strong...I'm not feeling too safe today.
PS - after Inauguration Day 1981, I went to that gasthaus as I normally did for dinner, at least twice a week. I was invited by the owner to sit at the stammtische, a table reserved for family, and close friends of the family. I cherish that honor to this day.
Leonard Cohen said it best, "You won't like what comes after America."
I must be weird. I loved the guy from the first “mean” tweets.
Trump’s special power is to piss off all the right people. This dude has removed himself from the list. All good, then.
