Contemporary Christian musician Amy Grant has been named one of the Kennedy Center’s five honorees for 2022.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine ever receiving this prestigious Kennedy Center Honors,” Grant said in a statement. “I cannot wait to celebrate with my fellow honorees, friends, and family. Thank you for widening the circle to include all of us.”
The center plans to fete Grant in its 45th class of honorees that also includes actor George Clooney, singer Gladys Knight, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Tania León, and the rock band U2.

Her great success in the world seems to have changed her now that she is in her early 60s...in fact, she seems to have lost her strong dedication a long time ago.
Clooney and Bono? UGH
If you don’t know who “Ministry Watch” is, it seems to me they are a group of liberals who delight in reporting scandal in the body of Christ *or* propping up “progressive” viewpoints in the visible church.
I could be wrong, I haven’t dived deep into them, but from what I have seen that is the impression given.
Notice there is no criticism of Grant in this piece.
I remember her primarily in the 1980’s singing Christian pop, she had quite a following. Lost track of her though.
Amy has done pretty good. She has had several No. 1 songs and writes her own music. Not bad.
Love will find a way!

Didn’t she abandon Christian music about 30 years ago?
Here come the RATs. Time for them to take over Contemporary Christian Music. They’ve already stolen everything else.
But for whatever reason, "mainstream" CCM artists hardly motivated me. Even Christian music organizations like CCM magazine seemed to heavier promote musicians with a watered down message over bands in which virtually every song was about trusting and loving the Lord and sticking to Him like glue. Or as Michael W. Smith put it decades ago in an interview with CCM Magazine (paraphrasing): "Why do people expect me to sing about Jesus in every song?" LOL
Most likely, which is probably why she is being honored :)

No.

BUt Amy Grant, She takes off her pants. That's what I like about Amy Grant.
I know it’s hard to see the past and still believe...
No...
I was in England in 1995 and there were posters for an Amy Grant concert in London that was coming up and they advertised her as former gospel singer. She’s made statements since she married Vince Gill that Christian music that had any idea of strong doctrinal belief was not what she was going to sing. For anyone to claim that she is a Christian singer is like saying that a coffee bean is the same as a chocolate being
HO!
Amy Grant……Meh
I would not want to be honored by this ilk…..
…she doesn’t have a problem with it
She must have kissed the ring, and bent the knee to the godless left. It’s the only way she could get this honor.
