American officials are starting to admit Washington’s lies about Iran. William Burns, director of the CIA, said on Wednesday, July 20, that Iran has never resumed its nuclear weapons production program since it was interrupted, in 2004. The statement only confirms the suspicion of several analysts around the world, but it is truly impressive that it came from the head of American intelligence. Indeed, it reveals that Washington really bases its interventionist foreign policy on lies and distortions.
During his speech at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado, Director Burns stated: “Our best intelligence judgment is that the Iranians have not resumed the weaponization effort that they had underway up until 2004 and then suspended, so that’s something, obviously we at CIA and across the US intelligence community keep a very, very sharp focus on”.
Earlier, in December of last year, the Director had already stated something similar to these lines, indicating that there were insufficient reasons for the US to believe that Iran planned to produce nuclear weapons. However, on neither occasion did Burns clarify why the US government had repeatedly mentioned this hypothesis of resuming the program in recent years, even without any scientific basis to justify the narrative.
Interestingly, it was not just Burns who recently commented on this topic. Tamir Hayman, director of Israeli intelligence, has already stated that Tel Aviv has not found evidence that Tehran plans to develop nuclear weapons, despite the fact that there is a large process of uranium enrichment.
“To the best of our knowledge, the directive has not changed, and they are not heading toward a breakout. They are not heading toward a bomb right now: It may be in the distant future. (…) There is an enriched amount [of uranium] in volumes that we have not seen ..

you cannot prove a negative, especially in a country that is as secretive as Iran.
Perhaps they view stockpiles of enriched, not-yet-weaponized uranium as a kind of indirect protection against sovereign-on-sovereign insult, sort of similar to the way Russia has historically viewed their piles of nationally-owned gold bullion.
“...our best judgement...”
Man, don’t even get me started............!!
So you are saying they are working towards a bomb as a form of protection, while they are saying they aren’t.
yeah, i don’t believe this
iran stopped nothing
they don’t need to enrich the uranium to high purity levels in order to make a fissionable bomb.
I’m no expert; I’m just saying, I’m not seeing it on a reputable news source. I think if it was true, Al Jazeera would have it, and someone besides the Venezuelans on Google News. ...now, the whole thing may be true, and the Venezuelans just scooped everybody else. What do I know, right? But that’s how it looks to me so far.
he is 100% lying.
there are multiple potential whys that are interesting possibilities that require answers
they’ve had credibility since the 31st of June, year whenever
“To the best of our knowledge …”
Well that is most reassuring! /sarcasm
BTW - What dictionary does the CIA use?
I am sure that’s true, especially given that some Iranian minister said last week they had enough enriched uranium to build a bomb, but they had no intention.... Uh huh.
article is nothing more than not-credible russian/iranian propaganda ...
Hasn’t Iran repeatedly boasted about how close they are to building a bomb?
Which is to say: "We lie all the time!"
The CIA said it———————THEREFOR IT IS A LIE!
"...the second dimension though is how long it would take if the Iranians resumed an effort to build a weapon a nuclear device and their our best intelligence judgment is that the Iranians have not resumed the weaponization effort that they had underway up until 2004 and then suspended so that's something obviously we at CIA and across the u.s intelligence community keep a very very sharp focus..."
Which makes me wonder what was the point of all the talk of Iran's nuclear problem or the Iran Deal for the last 18 years then if they were not pursuing a nuclear weapons program.
Were they lying then or are they lying now?
Bingo! First, I believe nothing from any member of the Biden administration. Second, we have seen the Democrats lie through their teeth to push their agenda and the agenda related to this story is removing the sanctions off Iran and giving them more money. What better way to get the support from everyday Americans than to put out a story, from a high level official, that Iran is good and hasn’t cheated on the Iran deal — which we know is not true.
