Russians Turn to Their Gardens to Offset Sanctions
WSJ ^ | 24-JUL-2022 | Yuliya Chernova

Every weekend, Kseniya Abramova and her mother pile her fluffy white Samoyed and six cats into their car for the five–hour drive from St. Petersburg to work in their garden, where they hope to grow enough fruit, vegetables and nuts to last the year.

Like many Russians, Ms. Abramova is trying to protect against high inflation and potential food-supply disruptions related to sanctions imposed after the country’s invasion of Ukraine. “Everything is ridiculously expensive. It’s a catastrophe. So we are plowing away in the garden from dawn till dusk,” Ms. Abramova said.

Can one of you RuZZian trolls who lives near St. Petersburg, stop by and help Ms. Abramova with her gardening?

5 hour drive?? Two ways...10??

A little share cropping makes more sense. Or put up a tent for the summer.

They have plenty of gasoline. Head out to the dacha and garden... On the downside, a fairly short growing season.

Here in the USA we may need to do this to counter the WEF Global Food Shortage. The left won’t like it, so make plans to protect your gardens.

Every little Russian town to medium sized city has a public set-aside for gardening, usually located near the town sign as you come into town. Economically lower class people will set-up their “Dacha” made out of pallet wood and cardboard and spend July and August tending their crops (otherwise, they’ll get stolen). They may be an eyesore but thousands and people raise their garden every year just like that. The middle-class and upper-class have proper larger gardens and Dachas with established boundaries, water and power. Often times these camps will have a medium sized house on the land and people will spend much of the season living “at Dacha”.

Food is very expensive there, and prices continue to increase. Fuel is cheaper but has gone up a little. Looks like she has a second home and is developing a plan B. It’s good that she’s busy. Complaining publicly about the government there gets people in serious trouble.

“5-hour drive??”

Sounds like gas is CHEAP AND AVAILABLE in Russia, unlike Europe or the West.

But never forget: Sanctions are fun!!!

Russia is a MASSIVE energy and food exporter.

They ain’t gonna starve or freeze.

However, their diet may get a tad bland.

Russia is evil, it’s Communist, it’s still the Soviet Union, but don’t underestimate them. I suggest reading “The Perestroika Deception” and Jeff Nyquist’s work. Also their alliance with Communist China is disturbing and allows the Russians to simply bypass moat sanctions.

We are not giving Ukraine nearly enough to actually turn the tide of the war. We would need to let Poland off their leash and have them engage Russia with their full military to even have a hope of dislodgeing the Russians from Ukraine.

I’ve already started. I think Biden’s sanctions on America started the moment the fake “election” was certified.
