A radical plan for Trump’s second term
Axios ^ | 7/22/22 | Jonathan Swan

Posted on 07/22/2022 8:40:42 PM PDT by jetvol1

Former President Trump’s top allies are preparing to radically reshape the federal government if he is re-elected, purging potentially thousands of civil servants and filling career posts with loyalists to him and his "America First” ideology, people involved in the discussions tell Axios.

The impact could go well beyond typical conservative targets such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Internal Revenue Service. Trump allies are working on plans that would potentially strip layers at the Justice Department — including the FBI, and reaching into national security, intelligence, the State Department and the Pentagon, sources close to the former president say.

He needs to have competent people to replace the ones who do actual valuable work. He didn't have a base of loyal, reliable, skilled, competent personnel to draw from to fill those positions. He still doesn't. The people he does appoint may do a better job than the idiots running things now, but he doesn't have enough of them to do a massive purge.

Trump did a very good job with what he had last time. He didn't try for a massive overhaul of everything. That cost him in the end, but a massive overhaul would also have had serious problems for him and for the country.

Make justice the goal of the justice system. I know, what a thought, right?

They would just say that whatever they want to do is "justice." Trump in 2016 faced a dilermma:

1) Many "experienced" people turned out to be dishonest and evil. Rosenstein, Wray, etc.

2) When he replaced them with new people, some of the new ones didn't know what to do, like Sessions, asked for help, and you saw what happened.

“They would just say that whatever they want to do is “justice.” “

True enough... but these judges are Americans. They grew up here, schooled and trained in our society... many would make mistakes, I’m sure, and from SOMEBODY’S point of view EVERY judicial decision is a mistake... but I think it would be radical to actually shoot for justice, instead of every single darn segment of society expecting some other segment to cover that.

Strip layers at the Justice Department can’t happen fast enough to much waste and untrusted power.

He had no one watching his back. McConnell and Ryan should
have given him cover, but they were too busy siding with our
enemies.

Trump won’t sit still for that again.

It is a serious error by Trump (if he is really running) to say ANYTHING about what happens at 12:01 pm on 1/20/25.

Well, all of those are created by Acts of Congress, and Congress pays for them.

Why don't you call up Mitch McConnell or Lisa Murkowski with your suggestions?

If Trump replaced (carefully) the top posts in those agencies he could make a big difference. Of course dems in the house would like to impeach him for that, but if the midterms and 2024 elections go the way I think they will, impeachment would not work.
