If reelected in 2024, Trump is planning to cut about 50,000 administrative state employees to rein in unelected technocrats in federal government agencies that have great influence over policies impacting American workers, according to the outlet.
“The impact could go well beyond typical conservative targets such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Internal Revenue Service,” the report explained. “Trump allies are working on plans that would potentially strip layers at the Justice Department — including the FBI, and reaching into national security, intelligence, the State Department and the Pentagon, sources close to the former president say.”
The term administrative state specifically describes the phenomenon of unaccountable and unelected administrative agencies exercising power to create and enforce their own rules.
The administrative state uses its rule-making ability to essentially usurp the separation of powers between the three branches of government by creating a so-called fourth branch of government not created by the Constitution. Nearly 2 million federal government employees in federal agencies make up the administrative state. Trump has referred to the administrative state as the “swamp.”
Before Trump left office in 2021, he signed an executive order (EO) to reclassify federal government employees into Schedule F, which would have allowed the president to enhance accountability and job performance within the bureaucratic agencies.
“Unfortunately, the Government’s current performance management is inadequate, as recognized by Federal workers themselves,” the EO reads. “For instance, the 2016 Merit Principles Survey reveals that less than a quarter of Federal employees believe their agency addresses poor performers effectively.”

“He means 500,000 right?”
heh... like that joke about the bus full of lawyers at the bottom of the ocean... 50,000 fewer federal employees isn’t ALL we want but it’s a damn good start!
“Which means DeSantis needs more experience and toughening up!”
You had best re-read DeSantis biography again. He is more qualified to be president than Trump was when he came into office.
That being said, I don’t think DeSantis will run this time and I will support Trump.
File bankruptcy. Fire everyone and start over.
Trump’s biggest fault was that he believed people are honest.
That he didn’t do exactly that on Jan 20, 2017 was the gravest mistake of his administration. Every removable holdover from the Obama regime should’ve been summarily fired immediately after inauguration.
Yup. For obvious reasons, DeSantis should be Trump’s Apprentice for four years, then watch out.
I could get behind this.
Should this happen, the immediate response will be “Social security checks won’t go out, and we’ll have to close all national parks”. The same crap they always do when they don’t get their way. And then, someone will crawl out from under a rock somewhere with a way to state that this is treason, and as such is an impeachable offense.
The last thing they should have done is announce this, if they actually did, and it is not a bomb thrown by leftists.
Do you really think that if President Trump made up his mind to di this that those type of responses would bother him in the least or deter him from his objective?
Impeach and remove from the bench all the out of control liberal judges too!
That alone is reason enough to support Trump. I don’t worship him, and have misgivings, but going on a top to bottom firing spree is just what the sewer of DC needs.
If you want something done that actually doable and effective, this is where you start - The Plum Book.
This is the “Bible” for the top-drawer presidential appointments.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plum_Book
This a book that lists positions in the United States government that are subject to political appointment. It lists around 9,000 federal civil service leadership and support positions in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government that may be subject to noncompetitive appointment nationwide.
These appointments are how you directly control and shape the policy of the federal bureaucracy without time consuming legislation or blocking federal court actions like wholesale firings would entail. All Constitutional and well established by past use. Historically Republicans are terrible at exploiting this, Rats are not!
To get this to work you need to all extent possible avoid legislation and opportunities for legal challenge in the federal courts. Also, you need a Plan B ready to go for both if they occur!
Looking back at the then incoming 2016 Trump administration, they seemed to have been totally unprepared for this. As a minimum they clearly had the Republican habit of not quickly taking advantage of the Plum Book! Additionally, I think Trump naively thought he was dealing with “professionals”. He wasn’t! He left US Attorneys in place. For example, I remember there was some US attorney (Indian name!) in New York he was negotiating with. Waste of time! Rat administrations fire these guys by the time oath office is complete!. He left Agency heads and their deputies etc. in place far far too long (They all should have been fired and escorted out on Day 1!). Remember his dinners with Comey, etc. Trump had way way too much confidence in his “charm”, he thought could win them over with it! Sometimes things are not “a deal” to be crafted! Admiral Rogers who briefed Trump on the “collection” against Trump Tower should have been made DNI (or even DCIA) immediately. I never understood why he was not brought into the administration proper. His most devastatingly bad pick was the AG - Sessions. It set Trump up deliberately or not for all the mess that followed. In fact, Session’s incompetence or malfeasance was the crack in the wall that almost brought it all down.
Don’t get too excited.
A significant number of Schedule F employees axed by A new Trump administration will be replaced by that same administration. Many of these currently Excepted Service positions have some importance and merit and those positions will not be eliminated, just different names in the same seats.
So President Trump has confided in Axios???
Republicans need to remove Merrick Garland first thing, but they won’t.
Tens of thousands submitted their resumes to work for 45. The DS deleted the database.
Also, eliminate all DIE positions in the DOD and Intelligence services.
Axios is the source so a large grain of salt should be taken with this but it is a good idea.
The US government needs a massive purge of traitors who work against US citizens and sitting politicians. This much is true and clear.
Fire with such a huge black mark against them that they can never get a security clearance or job with any federal agency again. These are the most toxic of the untouchables in the world.
“…you need to all extent possible avoid legislation and opportunities for legal challenge in the federal courts.””
The Left can get ANYTHING no matter how baseless on any docket anytime they want. They and the court system will stop Trump cold.
